Pick em up truck

I don't care about your states. I prefer keeps simple CDL policy for all states due travel around.

Again, Size don't matter like CDL C. RV is heavy and large than bus but bus must have CDL and RV don't.
we don't go by size.... only weight

Again, policy still not clear for personal user or not. That's why I asked him for Source.

And Semi-truck IS COMMERCIAL.
it's very clear.... if any vehicle is used for commercial purpose... then CDL is needed.

he's right.

CDL means COMMERCIAL. if it's for personal/emergency use... you don't need CDL.

and size does matter. if your rig is above 26,000 lbs... yep you need CDL (according to NY law)

we don't go by size.... only weight
You just said that.

Re-read again.

RV is heavy and large than bus but bus must have CDL and RV don't.

it's very clear.... if a vehicle is used for commercial purpose... then CDL is needed.

That's your opinion and you don't own semi-truck so I don't care. :)

jiro talked about business but i don't see any policy for personal user. How you know that you don't need cdl for personal user?

rrrrreeeaaaaaaddddd the law!!!! and refer to your DMV!

yes..... as in weight. not in LxWxH

because a bus is transporting more than 16 passengers... RV isn't.

never stated any opinion in here.... only stating what the law says. do you own a semi-truck?

You screwed up and made very lame excuse.

ok. so are you still going to be stubborn and be nit-picky because you're not acknowledging the fact that you're wrong?

if the size of an object appears to be very large.... that means what? it's obviously very heavy, right? so if a vehicle is very large and weighs over 26,000 lbs.... then what? you need CDL, right?

RV may be large but does it transport over 16 people? is it over 26,000 lbs? is it for commercial purpose?

Speak yourself. First you said size do matter then 2nd you said weight do matter 3rd now you said number of passengers. You keeps change a word to cover up your smartass.

uh....

The Act established separate classes of commercial driver's licenses. Every state issues licenses in these categories:

Class A: Any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GWVR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.

Class B: Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.

Class C: Any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B, but is either designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, or is placarded for hazardous materials.

You just said that.

right.... therefore I remain corrected.... You get fixated over one word and one definition. I understand that English is not your strong forte and that's why we're in this very petty bickering. I would strongly suggest that we drop this and move on.

You've already stated 3 class types and that should answer your question why RV doesn't require CDL unless it exceeds 26,001 lbs and/or you're transporting over 16 people.

Any question?

Don't be smartass and looking for blame my English. YOU never drop and move on and keeps fight whatever you want as you enjoy it.

I stated 3 class types to SHOW you that there was not just ONE CDL because of it's over 26,001 lb

You quote said

That's mean 25,999 lbs then don't need CDL. That's what you talked about. I disagreed with that.

let me back Jiro here.... He is right. You can own and drive a semi without a CDL. I dont give a damn if its a commercial vehicle, if its for personal use ( not hauling loads or for hire ) you dont have to have a CDL, if you load and pull 26,001 pounds, more than 8 passengers you need a CDL. I drove dump trucks, I drove semis, I drove busses, all without CDLs because I wasnt for hire, I didnt have passengers and I was under 26,000 pounds. Look up your DMV call and ask. simple as that...source, here you are pull up yours and READ. DMV.org: The DMV Made Simple

a mechanic one thing, behind the wheel is another... been there done that and know.

I am not in mood to read whole DMV and found it out it was not true or not. I prefer direct your source which it's true or not. I drove semi-truck with over 26k GVW before without CDL needs as private parking (pick up and drop off). Why you drive BUS around if no job? Not make sense to me.
No that means 26,001 or more...youre under

Under what?

a mechanic one thing, behind the wheel is another... been there done that and know.

But I am diesel mechanic and I am not allows to drive semi-truck on the public street WITHOUT hauling loads for test road without CDL.

but.... I showed you 3 class types first....

disagree? sure go ahead and disagree with the law :laugh2:

because you are required to TEST it with loads.... therefore you need to have CDL

Clear explained that you still needs CDL C for 16 passengers or more for 25,999 lbs or under.
