Permanent Markers Will Get You Arrested in School

Who funds the purchase of the land, construction and furnishing of the buildings, and maintenance of the campus?

Those are for educational purposes. The taxpayers fund education. That does not mean they have ownership of the property.

by your logic - since your wife receives Medicare which is funded by taxpayers, that means we get to make medical decision for your wife. it's our money after all.....

Not unless you're married to her. People aren't property. A school building is.

But insurance is. And Medicaid is taxpayer funded insurance. So we should get to determine what is done with that property.

I'm sorry but it's my money that your wife is using for her health needs so that means I get to make medical decisions, not you since I'm the one with money. Since it's my money - I believe I should get to decide what kind of medical coverage your wife can get.

Your money pays for the insurance that covers her. That insurance is property. If having contibuted funds to the school system means taxpayers own it, the by the same logic, we own the insurance that covers a Medicaid patient and can determine how that policy covers care.

I didn't say that they owned the property. I just wanted to confirm who paid for all the property. :)

I think that property taxes pay for schools. Or at least in part.
In our town, yes, property taxes pay for the schools.

In the neighboring city it's property taxes and local sales taxes. That's annoying because we shop and do business in that city, so our taxes pay for another cities' schools. When they shop in our stores or use our businesses, it's not reciprocal.

No, that would be the Board of Education. The taxpayers don't own the schools nor the properties.

But the taxpayers money is use to run the schools ! The high school in my small city was done over and our real estate taxes when up to help pay for the cost!

So? The taxpayers still don't own the school. If you are so certain they do, go on over to your local school and try to claim ownership. Then let us know how that went.
