Hey, My name is Kortney. I'm a hearing student currently enrolled in an interpreting program. I need to interview a deaf person for my Deaf Studies class and would like to see if anyone wants to participate. It consists of 20 questions. Some might be a little personal about your childhood and others will be about your opinion of certain things. I'm looking for someone willing to share these things with me so I can learn and grow on this journey to interpreting. Thank you so much!

How would you like getting an email from a total stranger saying they want to ask you personal questions about your childhood??? You just jump right in here and not spend anytime telling anything about yourself and want us to spill our guts out to you ! You gotta be joking.

Awesome. Do you have time? It will probably take about a half an hr. I'll send a few questions at a time. That ok with you?

I've exhausted all of my resources. I went to school with a deaf girl and she bailed on me. And the 3 deaf students in my class have been asked by basically everyone so this is my last hope.

The most personal questions I'm going to ask regarding childhood is how your parents decided to raise you. Either in mainstream schools or residential and with oralism and no sign. Things like that.

I read through the links on the thread thanks. I didn't understand it was such a common problem but I guess if one person has this idea than many others will.

Hello, I am deaf. One of the things that frustrates me about being deaf is getting bitten by cats. I wonder if cats are just flat out don't want to learn ASL. Sometimes I wonder if I knew how to use my voice, would cats refrain from biting me? I've asked some hearing people to help me by voicing to cats that biting is wrong. However, no hearing people want to help me. Therefore, I'm faced with dealing with dangerous biting cats alone. I hope that maybe someone come forward and protect me from being bitten by cat.

I just imagine that it's scary for cats as cats don't understand Deaf Culture. I wonder if I taught cats about Deaf Culture whether they would be less likely to bite me. I cannot do it alone. I need help to teach cats about finest art of Deaf Culture.

We would all be very rich by now if we got paid each time a person posted here they want to ask us questions.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Isn't that the truth. That's all the ASL students hop on here for. Can I ask you some questions? Oh sure, you're only the 95354054554054848746064342 student to ask! WHOO HOO! Suppose we should all be jumping in excitement over being so interesting.

Sure you polish my knob once for each question then we'll talk how's that???
