I have friends that owned a Ouija board when I was at Clarke. It happened in late 80's, maybe 89? Anyway, two or three girls sat down on the floor and did what they were supposed to. Person M said fire alarm at 11 AM (I think it was at 11 AM) and Person K said oh yea right! So on the next day, it really happened! I was like "oh my god it did really happened". Person M said do not say a word! So all of us shut our mouth. Freaky! I didn't play but I did watched it. If my son get that, it will go in bon fire, period!
LOL I have used it too much when I was a kid from my sister's. Her game was way cool because it has wooden board. When I was in college and bought it for myself. The game has no wooden board but paper.. Actually, I wish I could never play it. I know it's not real but according to my personal experiences that was so freaking!!! Also, my mom's personal experience too. When she saw me having it and she asked me to put it away and told me her experiences. I highly respect my mom's wishes. Later on in college, it did happen to me with this game and after that I wish I have never played with this game. No matter what if it is fake or not. but it isn't worth it!
Exactly. The whole purpose of the game is to be spooky and to scare people. Kind of like a haunted house at Halloween. Not real, but it scares some people so badly!
With the Ouija Board, you are thinking that something spooky might happen, so your brain creates it, and sees "messages" in stuff that you wouldn't normally think twice about. Some people like to be scared like that, and some don't.
Kind of like a "witches gazing ball" we made. We took a large fish bowl, cut a hole into a sheet of plywood and sheet, filled the bowl with smoke and covered it with plastic wrap and a rubber band. Someone would sit under the table and shine a flashlight with colored cellophane over the flashlight into the bowl. Seated at the bowl would be someone dressed up as a witch. This was fun to do and would scare the pants off some people. One year, we made a few minor adjustments and had pictures that we would slide in that pertained to different people in the group.
It can be dangerous to those who are susceptible. Not everyone is but enough are to make it risky to attempt.
It's not a game. People shouldn't be using Ouija to summon the evil spirits to their houses. Good luck to anyone trying to bring it into my house because it's not going to happen.
There is no way to know if the spirits you are summoning are good or evil. A coin isn't going to change that. You see, the Ouija was created with a purpose, it was to summon the spirits and to communicate with them.
However, far too many people don't know what they are supposed to do with an Ouija board, so instead they abuse it by asking personal questions or worse, ask them to make a physical presence. If you want to do it right, you have to be calm, not scared witlessly. Always be polite with the spirits or you'll be asking for trouble. Not to mention that you should always place it on the Good-Bye and say good-bye at the end.
Regardless, I still don't recommend it to anyone. I don't want to have any part of it.
It's bad news if you believe it has power to be bad news.
It's bad news if someone can be scared into actually believing in ghosts or spirits.
My sisters and I used to play with one (not ours, it belonged to another friend). My youngest sister got scared witless. I thought it was all a joke (although I swear, I did NOT knowingly influence the pointer to move). Did it "harm" her? Well, she truly was scared. Might be what you'd call "self-inflicted" harm, but she really, truly was scared.
'course, my other sister was convinced that my brother was going to blow up the world when he left the garden hose running and it made a hole in the dirt, as water under pressure will do. He told her that he was going to pour "acid" in the hole and blow up the world. She ran running to tell Mommy.
Sigh. My sisters were, um, rather high on the "gullible" scale, one could say. .

Banjo and I were talking about a Spiritualist community in New York state last night in this thread. I could not remember the name of the town, or the book I read about it. I just remembered so for anyone else who was interested, the town and the book have the same name: Lily Dale.
Omg! I just googled the board and saw a spirit on the patio door reflection
I'm going to try to see if it has something to tell me. If you don't hear back from me in a hour, alert the police
