HEY,

been loosing my hearing for a long time. it has plateaued- but i never know when i will loose more. but I am in the severe loss range. all the high pitches.

don't wear hearing aids- i'm allergic to the molds.

finally had that talk with my husband about not being pissed that i'm not hearing everything. and being happy that i hear some.
to start functioning at a deaf person who can hear some and does remarkably well, and not a hearing person who functions poorly and hears very little.

so here i am. hoping to make strides in coping as i move up in my work place, and mature into motherhood. i'm not ready for a kid yet, but i am scared to death about how to handle it.

and now I've shared a little too much for an opening "hi how are"

thanks. i do not have late onset. my hearing has been slowly going since i was 5. at 25 i have reached a point where the balance has tipped and its becoming more impossible to follow any conversations.

:wave:Hello and welcome to AD, hope you enjoy your time here visiting and meeting new people, stop by say hello anytime.:cool2:

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. You still need to talk with Jillio and anyone that want to help you cope with your hearing even if you were 5 years old. Now your hearing is dwindling down where you may hear some and not hear in another environment sounds. Anyway, you will find a lot of interesting threads here and enjoy reading and posting them. See you around.

When you started losing your hearing, did you ever consider other forms of communication? American Sign Language?
