The handcuffs don't matter. It's the fact that he was a violent felon who figured that the deputy wasn't prepared to defend herself, and took advantage of it. I don't know if the courthouse normally just assigns one deputy per felon or not, but in this case, he WAS VIOLENT and ACTED.

There was not enough evidence to convict Kobe.

As for this other clown, he was going down anyway, and he knew it. That's why he's accused of doing what he's accused of doing. He didn't want to be convicted of the rape, so he saw an opportunity to get outta Dodge, and he took it. Just so happens, he killed a bunch of people in the process. Now, instead of being convicted of rape and going to prison for a few years, he's facing a few capitol murder charges and will probably be on the wrong end of a lethal injection if he's convicted.

So, he royally screwed himself over. His bad luck.

I believe that if there is unhandcuffed, no leg shackles on the defendant then nobody should be carrying a gun in the court room because anything can happen, because they must focus on safely for everyone in the courtroom. When I watch courtTv I don't see them wearing their orange suit, they wear civilian clothes. If they still think no judge or anyone would feel safe in the courtroom without a gun then there should be a gun hidden by the judge's bench, away from the defendant.

If a cop arrest me and charge me with umm.. lets say murder ok? and even tho I didn't murder anyone but the witness said I was the " one " that she saw, etc...I end up in court, so let's say they put the chain on my legs, and handcuff on my arms, how is this suppose to make me feel? when I did not murder anyone? It almost like my rights are taking away here...Every criminals has rights unless they prove that this criminal is dangerous, then yeah maybe they should....but everyone is innocent until prove guilty! that's just how the law works....

Correct, If anyone were on trail and charge with a serious commit crime then we should be able to wear clothes to send the right message to the jury that you're a regular citizen and you're innocent. But when FDR came social security came,The parole board came and there were appeals on death sentences. And when LBJ came judges throw out cases because the police didnt do things properly like the crap you have to get a search warrant.And the have to read the miranda warning to you. About ten years ago I worked on a patent for a man in FLorida. The Officer wears a ring which emits a key code. Anyone not wearing the ring cannot fire the gun. The firing pin is blocked. But suppose another person, Judge, lawyer, or person in the room had been armed. The perp certainly would not have been able to kill that many people. Even if the baliff had worn a safety holster it would have helped. I do not agree with using orange suits and cuffs on non-convicted suspects in court, but a lot of jurisdictions do just that. And it makes the most innocent man look guilty as sin.

I am somewhat familiar with the invention that you mention, and I'm surprised it isn't more popular than it is. The only drawback that I'm aware of is if me an another officer were pinned down, I couldn't use his weapon (lets say he had been hit and I'm running out of ammo....I could still use his clip, however). The ring would prevent me being killed by my own weapon (which happens to a lot of police officers killed in the line of duty), and it would prevent a tragedy such as this courthouse killing.

There is one gun manufacturer that has a safety that prevents the gun from firing if the clip is ejected, even if there is still a round chambered. He claims to only carry this type of gun off duty. His scenario is that if he is fighting for his weapon and believes he would lose it, he can eject it and his gun becomes about as useless as a brick and cannot be used to shoot him or anyone else until the clip is inserted back into the weapon.
