one year later.. my GPU might get brick or fried

Oh, you're not enthusiast gamer? Just Smartphone freak and Media player for watching movie freak? *facepalm*...

I don't use phone and tablet for media player or movie. Mostly for graphic- apps like Google Earth, ArcGIS, Maps layers, other high performance app.

It was not about GPU. It's motherboard with PCI-e 3.0 and it's worthless. You won't noticed anything between old motherboard with PCI-e 2.0 and new motherboard with PCI-e 3.0 for GTX 780. That's all you get is 1%-2% difference. If I was you, I would keep the old motherboard.

Like naisho showed you a picture about PCI-E 2.0 vs PCI-E 3.0. It was about motherboard's type of connect.

It was not exactly same as your motherboard. Your mobo don't have 4 way SLI. I believe you don't understand what 4 way SLI mean. Waste of money.

For me, I will not upgrade my motherboard until 2015 - PCI Express 4.0. :)

what waste of money? I can upgrade SLI in future whattever I want and download hotfix patch for improve speed, anyway

Total around $2800 for Quad GPUs and mobo. They may outdated in few years later. Ouch. Good luck with that.

Most PC games are console port so it is unnecessary to have 4 GPU.

One GeForce GTX 780 is more than enough to run all PC games at maximum graphic.
