One Last Wish

Ohhh, I am crying my eyes out. I know the love for your pet and the pain of seperation. I am so happy someone was paying attention to this poor soul who was homeless and dying. Looking at the picture you can plainly see the comfort each has found being reunited..Thanks Jiro..the dog went home to give more love to another family, and his companion also went HOME...
I am so moved by random kindness..Midnight♥♥♥

Yeah, you can clearly see the love in the pic. What a special bond!

Pets are always awesome for people who need them while they're dying. I read about it a couple of weeks ago.

Bawling my eyes out...beautiful story....I just told my own doggie that "I love You"....

thank sharing to Jiro God bless safe dogs hero safe, I am almost to tear, I am happy hear,
suffer pain on his lung!

What heartbreaking story , it is so sad the man dies of lung cancer , but I love it that people took the time to honor his last wish! I heard that Elizabeth Taylor wanted to see her dog when she was dying bout the hospital would not allow it!
I had a client and fell one day and had some x ray taken to made sure he broke no bones as he was very thin. The x ray shown he had lung cancer and he dies about 3 weeks after he learned he had cancer. He just gave up. There is something very special about the dog , it is so sweet looking!

Well they may have not caught the cancer until it was way too late to treat it. If he was homeless it's likely he had the cancer for a very long time and probably suffered for months until someone called the paramedics for him. If it spread, it likely sucked vital nutrients from his body and it's also possible he simply did not eat enough to be healthy, just enough to survive, likely gave his food to his dog.

Instead of speculating as why he is frail looking, we should be happy knowing the man did not die out on the streets and that he got to see his dog one last time before he passed. Those are photos of a true companionship where the one is completely devoted to the other and vice versa. If only we treated our relationships with each other like that, think of how much closer we could be to our friends and families.

Touching story, but I am not forgetting the fact that there are 600 dogs about to be euthanized in Joplin, if they haven't been already. Okay, pass around the tissues.

Hundreds of Dogs and Cats From Joplin Adopted - OzarksFirst.com They are giving them away for adoption. So far they are sucessful. :)

(Joplin, MO) -- Good news for dogs and cats in Joplin, hundreds now have new homes.

Nearly 3,000 people from 24 states rolled into Joplin over the weekend to adopt hundreds of animals displaced by last month's devastating tornado.

"My dad thought that maybe we could help, come get a dog, and we're gonna name it Joplin," explains a young girl looking to adopt.

The Joplin Humane Society teamed up with the ASPCA to give away more than 600 cats and dogs, for free.

It says this two day adopt-a-thon has been very successful.

Not only are the application fees waived, but the animals are microchipped, spayed and neutered.

The animals are also leaving with free vaccinations and dog tags.

The line was long, but once they got in and filled out an application counselors matched the families with their perfect pet.

"It is an amazing experience, after all this hard work and all the heartache just to see this many, the outpouring of people to come out and take one of these guys into their homes, is just, it's phenomenal," adds Karen Aquino, Executive Director of the Joplin Humane Society.

To date, the ASPCA provided emergency sheltering for approximately 1,300 animals during the month-long sheltering period.

500 animals were reunited with their owners, 200 others, including newborns and injured animals, not yet available for adoption, will be made available in the coming weeks.

Wow. I was also glad to read that they also reunited a large number of dogs with their owners. It's so hard, in a disaster, to keep pets with their own families, because most temporary shelters for people don't allow dogs.

We've thought about that, as we spend our summers in an area that does get the occasional hurricane. Our emergency kit and packing list includes dog food and the dog beds, and a plan to drive inland ASAP. A friend of ours, who has a vacation home a few hours from here, has said we can always stay at his place, with our dogs, if need be.

Good to know. So far it has never been needed, but it's something in the back of our minds if we ever need to leave in a hurry.

That is so touching...

Did the air get dusty all of sudden...?
