This may be my last post for awhile. My brother-in-law is coming down on Friday, helping me load up a U Haul, and we are driving back to Kentucky next weekend. My sister and her family live up there and I'm joining them.

I was born and raised here in TX, but I want better opportunities than what I can find locally. I'll try to get back online as fast as I can. Take care and behave yourselves. :D

:) Congratulations on your move ITPJohn, and I wish you the best of luck in your new home. I hope that you will find your better opportunities in Kentucky, and Texas will always stay in your heart with wonderful memories.

Be safe with your move, and hope the move works out smoothly. Come back to Alldeaf soon, I will miss you, and I will pray for you to have a safe journey.

Take care, and will see you when you come back soon. Good luck!!!

I guess this is moving season. Everyone is moving to new towns.

Good luck with the move, and have a safe trip. Hope everything works out for you.

Good luck and I am sure u wont get lost. But dont get lost on the way back to AD.

Made it to Kentucky

Howdy folks,

It has been an interesting week to say the least. I picked up the Budget truck last Thursday afternoon and started loading it up with some help from my father. That was a chore, but only the beginning. My brother-in-law, Jim, came in Friday afternoon and we left San Antonio at 7:15PM headed to Dallas. We wanted to get in a few hours driving so Sunday wasn't as long.

The traffic in Dallas early Saturday morning was terrible. It took two hours to drive less than fifteen miles to my brother's house. We got there around 3:30AM, passed out for a few hours, and were back on the road by ten. Didn't even have time to chat. That's the way it goes sometimes.

By 5PM, we were on the TX/AR border. That's when we hit the next snag. Jim found a nail in one tire when we stopped for gas. He tried using a plug kit from WM, but that didn't work. I called the Budget customer service number when the plugs ran out. They found a guy to change the tire for us, but we lost three hours driving/sleeping time in all the mess.

Sunday went much better and we got up here about 7PM. We had gone through four states (TX, AR, TN, KY). Jim did all the driving except for 100 miles. I'll never be a truck driver. Since then I've been trying to sort through things and get settled. I'm using computers at the library for now and hope to get mine set up and connected before the first of October. We'll see.

One thing I've noticed is how much cooler it is here. I have to sleep under covers at night and can do almost anything during the day without working up a sweat. I could get used to this after all the lifting and loading that I've done the last week.

My body is starting to recover from the extreme workout. I hope it's a few years before I have to do anything like this again. Knock on wood.

Good news

I finally got the 'net hooked up at home tonight. This morning I got a call to set up an interview next week at KY School for the Deaf. I've already talked to a couple of folks at KSD and could be working in the dorm by Turkey Day. Wish me luck.

Does anyone have pointers for dorm life or stories they want to share? I'd like to hear them. Thanks and take care. :ily:
