I found an interesting product on TV and they said that last up to 100,000 so it means 11 years - let assume = 100,000/24 then 4167/365 = 11 years (after round to nearest whole number).

What are you think about this product?

I saw it advertised on TV. Funny how the lights go out during a power failure, but they can keep cooking, working on laptop, etc, once they fire up the Olde Brooklyn Lantern. Also, the thing looks like it is the size of a bar of soap. Save your money.

I actually have one similar, but it came from Walmart and has a rechargeable battery. The D batteries in the one in the link are going to cost money over the years I think.

Oh, and I should mention I do have it because of the retina damage and I can't see at all in the dark, so it is bright enough that I can go out on the back deck to get the dogs at night without falling.

Cooking - during power failure - OH MY!!!

The stove needs power to heat up.

Either its rechargable or self powered by generator, the LED bulbs last forever. I have a handheld, generated squeeze handle LED flashlight in my car. Never needs batteries and never needs bulbs for years of life.

Not all stoves are electric. There are gas stoves.

Yes, but what about the guy with the laptop? He could be doing offline work, but I find the whole thing iffy. I mean, if the power goes out, are you gonna sit on the sofa and edit photos? I would probably be checking the weather. If nothing else, I would probably find something to do with the Missus...:hmm:

I have a very simple cheap idea......

my brother and my dog. power outage from 2 months ago due to hurricane-like storm. took out emergency candles from my camping gear.

The brightness of light isn't enough for me due to night blindness so I need very strong, bright light, also it cost more.

He might have a fully-charged laptop and he's playing solitaire while the power (and internet) are down. :giggle:

Personally, I wouldn't eat spaghetti (or anything else) while holding a flashlight under my chin. How klutzy can that woman be?!

Love the doggie. :)

Generally, safety experts do not recommend candles because of the fire hazard. Seeing how clumsy that woman in the commercial is, I would keep her away from open flames.

We have plenty of battery-powered flashlights, tri-pod lights, clip-on lights, and lanterns.

we used this when our power went out -

We have a very nice grill outside if our power is out too long. In the winter, we also have a wood stove, on which we can cook.
