Hey there everyone.

My name is Denise. I live in Oklahoma.
I'm 16 years old. I'm not deaf or hard of hearing.
But 4 years ago I met a girl who was deaf, and we became good friends.
She was part of my inspiration to learn sign language. Because I didn't know how to talk to her. So for Christmas the next year she bought me a ASL Pocket Dictionary. That same year I went and purchased some software to teach me.
I have gotten so good that I interperate for my church, and sign to songs for specials.
Now for 3 years I have been signing.
I plan to go here at OSU to take their ASL Course, so I can get certified in American Sign Language.

I'm really interested in meeting deaf people in my area. They have such a wonderful outlook on life, because we just take hearing so forgranted. I really admire you all.

I'm actually now in the process of teaching my 8 year old cousin how to sign. She's so sweet and really interested in it.

Siging to songs in church is very wodnerful. Its my way of worshipping. And people in my church are always requesting it.

Again, I am hoping to meet poeple in my area. I'm near the Tulsa, OK area.

Feel free to PM me. I'll be visiting here often to check up on things.

Thanks for your time!

~Denise~

Did you check your PM from me? and did you see my post from a few days ago in your thread?

Oh yes. I recieved your PM. I just haven't had a chance really to respond

Thanks!

~Denise~

 :welcome: to Alldeaf Girl-4-God!! Your story on how you learned to sign by making a new friend that is deaf, is truly inspiring! Keep up the good work with interpreting! I too sign songs at Church, and it's such a truly remarkable feeling when you see the faces of the deaf and how they shine by the songs that are signed. Have fun posting, and welcome aboard to Alldeaf!! :D
