I'm thinking about getting a pager, but I don't know what kind I should get. Should I get Sidekick II or Ogo? I've got a lot of friends who use Sidekick II, but I've also got friends using Ogo. Both can't really convince me cuz they don't give good reasons. Can anyone recommend a device and tell me why I should get it. Give me PROs and CONs for each.

I already know that Sidekick II is $30 and that includes unlimited internet, email, text messaging, IM, etc. Ogo is $18 for one IM and one e-mail account. For two of each, it's $21. For three of each, it's $24. Sidekick II is $300 and Ogo is $110. Both offer rebates so it's less. Sidekick II has internet and camera... Ogo doesn't.

Which should I get?

Are you a cheap bastard? Get the OGO.

Are you a pop culture freak? Get the Sidekick 2.

Are you a real man? Get a Blackberry or Treo. :)

Neither the OGO nor the Sidekick 2 interest me in terms of service availability (coverage) nor in features. However, I do admit that they are cheaper than the two alternatives I listed, both in purchasing and in monthly plans.

Coverage is king. If you can't get service where you plan to go, it's not worth getting. From there, you have to decide if monthly price, purchase price, useful features, and useless features are worth it to you. I certainly don't think a camera on a cell phone is a "useful features" as they're still craptacular in photo quality and more organizations are banning them as security threats. So, identify what features are good for you and which features you don't care about and then you can make a decision.

Better listen to Dennis; He might know what he is talking about and the same time he scares me too. :giggle:

i would get Ogo because there is no contract agreement. u can play with it and if u dont like it then get skII. Personally i have old blackberry ipager and i m happy with it. i dont need camera or internet yet i m interested in TREO !

right now ogo costs 79.99 with a rebate. check this link

all that porn you have downloaded is slowing up your computer

Umm I really wish I can help you, but one of my friend do have sidekick II...it is very depend on where you are from because some area coverage won't work for sidekick but Ogo...I know somebody have one, it is just same thing as sidekick II, that is what my opinion.

I really don't like sidekick II or Ogo because of coverage area, but I like my blackberry (cingular) because it works most of coverage area and I love it.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm planning on using it only here at RIT campus. I rarely go off campus. I am almost always near a window so having range problems (which is usual for a place like RIT) won't be a problem.

my first pager was T600... shit

2nd was Sidekick...shit...too expensive

3rd now is OGO... it is reasonable price but hassle....(as now)

4th future would be Blackberry....go figure!!!! :rifle:

yea i agreed with ya about cingular's ipager service. it has been great to me for last few years.

I was told that sidekick will release third sidekick III end of May 2005. *gasp* I could not catch the new technology which is really faster than we do expect.

No, they're not. There are NO Sidekick 3 plans to be released in 2005. NONE. You are probably misinformed about the Motorola A630.

It IS NOT A SIDEKICK! It has no web browser.

I currently don't have a pager or cell phone, but I am hoping to invest in an Ogo. I like that there's no contract needed to activate it - and all I really need is one email and one screen name. That's it.

I had an OGO for a day and wasn't sastified with it and returned it and cancelled the service. It was SLOW connecting to AIM and has problems with AIM and yahoo seems unstable sometimes. It has MAJOR lag receiving and sending IMs to users. I'm not impressed with the ogo, except it has nice interface with all 3 IM and good pricing, they need improvement on the connection speed like the T-mobile sidekick does. :)

That's what I've been hearing too. I have one friend who has Ogo. I emailed her and she didn't get my reply until like 15 minutes later. She then replied, and I didn't get it until 30 minutes later. Eek! I'd rather stick with Gmail than Ogo! ;)
