A shame Obama himself neglected to run a full background check, drug testing, and credit report. That is what would have happened if the plumber wanted to work at most low-wage jobs.

True statement but you forgot to add that Obama is the first and, if others learn, the last with all the resource in the world's to do so.

And if they had actually done a full background check on each of those people, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars, some snarky republican would be posting a jab about that instead.

I seriously doubt he's the only one who has all the resources and fucked up as you put it so quaintly. I'm sure a lot of billionares have all the resources they want but it wouldn't surprise me if they missed a few people.

No, but that's politics as usual.

What I find much more disturbing with this new crop of conservative politics is that their tactic has become to thwart and block anything that could possibly lead to progress if it doesn't come from their own camp. Then, no matter what happens, they can just point a finger and say, "See, told you so!" That is dangerous, and it's not the way America has worked for the last 250 years. Compromise and working together is what this country was founded on.

Now, even the moderate republicans are under attack and afraid to speak out. They get called RINOs and traitors. Richard Lugar, the republican senator from my former state of Indiana is a perfect example. He was a great statesman and knew how to reach across the aisle to get things done. Indiana has prospered not because of governor Daniels (such a joke how he gets all the credit), but because of people like Lugar and Evan Bayh, and Indiana's long tradition of bipartisan leadership.

And what did Lugar get in return? He was named the #1 "target" of the Tea Party. (Evan Bayh has quit politics because he's so fed up with all of this.)

You raise some excellent points. I am fed up with all of this and it shows in the last post that I made this morning. I do not think the Far right has any intention of making progress even if they were in their power. I think that the Tea Party has become toxic to the Republicans and to our political system as well but I have little reason to believe even the moderate will address the distress of the people. Though I lean more toward the Democrats than the Republicans, i have to say I don't think the Democrats will be much better than the moderate Republicans.

Though I am not terribly enthusiastic about Obama, I am disgusted that Republicans chose to attack him over minor stuff instead of addressing our nation's concerns and Obama's failure to do a proper screening job is a strawman intended to distract from the very real issues that faces all of us.
