That law as known 2nd amendment was INTENDED to balance the power of "We the people" and the government. Right now, government is way way way too powerful, they got everything they need to wipe entire planet, that is way way more powerful than assault rifle and the balance is already out of tune and shows that US government now has too much power than average American guy who has AR-15 even if its modified as automatic. It already destroyed the purpose of 2nd amendment. If we ban assault weapon, mean what? Government gets more power and that violates 2nd Amendment right there.

If we kept giving US government more power then their temptation as tyranny state increases significantly and that is NOT what our forefathers wants to happen but sadly it happened. George Washington will be supremely pissed off if he is still alive.

In my legal studies course, my professor showed about ask if Second Amendment is clear enough - that was back in late 1780's and there was no assault weapon at time when Second Amendment was ratified. One of student asked professor about assault weapon ban is unconstitutional and my professor was unsure about those because highest court hasn't make any ruling yet, but we will see more court cases about guns in near future to question about constitutionally of gun regulation.

In case, if court disagree with you so you have opportunity to overturn the court decision by amend the new constitutional amendment to definite about gun rights in modern time - make more clear. I know those movement can be extremely difficult. Some freedom of speech are regulated, even freedom of speech is constitutionally protected like gun do. I know some of guns are regulated as well.

There is note - I don't have strong interest about gun rights so I can't give my opinion about assault weapon ban or Second Amendment because they are not part of my interest (not concerned). If you want to debate about opposite - CrazyPaul will be right person because he support gun control, including assault weapon ban and disagree with you about constitutionally of Second Amendment. You really cannot change his opinion, even gun control supporters too because they will disagree with you in old way - getting older now.

Important - just worry about yourself and you can become a pro-gun activist. If you have strong case to support gun rights so you can win by push legislators to pass the pro-gun law or pro-gun ballot. I did with gay marriage case so you can do it. Debate with CP will not turn him into pro-gun supporter or try to get me to become an interest with gun will not going work for me.

btw - the court did not find it "unconstitutional". the judge found it as arbitrary and capricious. NYC Health Department does actually have power to regulate just about anything including restaurants under its purview.

Then why didn't mass murderers use a "hunting rifle" to murder people? Happened twice and yes Supreme court had shot down and protected 2nd amendment. NYS may be third case where lower court may shoot down and won't have any more appeals, due to reference to two previous Supreme court cases.
