No Gas at 711 Store...

Does george bush reminds you of Jimmy Carter? you watch what he does next. ROLL BACK THE SPEED LIMIT to 55 just to give cops MORE POWER!.

I remembered it was Nixon who set the speed limit not Jimmy Carter.

Why would Bush want to drill oil in Alaska while China is trying to take over our oil companies esp when they want to buy Chevron.

I've been through the 70's and I have never seen any gas crisis back then. I was 10 years old when that happen. No lines, no gas shortage, nothing.

Same here. I was born in the late sixties, so I was around when we had the shortage in the '70s, but I was too young to remember it. I'm guessing here, but I think I was eight years old? So, I don't remember much about it.

Since when did 7-11 start selling gas? Last time I was near a 7-11 was 8 yrs ago, and as I recall, they didn't sell gas.

You learn something new every day!
I've been buying gas at 7-11 for 14 years. ;)

Same here, 7-11 has always sold gas. A couple times they have been busted, though, for selling bad gas that looked like choclate milk, but that is another story.
Oh yes, the gas "shortages" of the old days. I remember gas stations having "gas wars" where they keep lowering prices to draw in customers. It got so ridiculous that a few stations actually PAID customers to fill their tanks!
Dang.
Don't even bother to Snope it, I have seen it with my own eyes and I do not care what Snopes says.

Gosh, that is strange. When I was a kid I lived in Maryland. There was a 7-11 right up the street from us, and it was just your typical convenient store. I honestly never heard of 7-11 selling gas.

This is just flooring me! Don't ask me why!

I've never had gas at the station run out of gas, that happen to me before. yep, 7-11 do have gas station which is run under Citgo gasoline company. We got those around in Seattle.

Its a Maryland thing...or not a Maryland thing depending on how you look at it. We have tons of 7-11's but rarely do I see them sell gas. The closest one to me I know is about 20 miles away that sells gas (and its Citgo brand, I think)...and I have to go by 5 or so normal 7-11's to get there. I have, however, seen this in other states where 7-11's are all over the place. In our city, we have stores called 'Wawa' and none of them sell gas but in other areas, they do. Its all a state thing, I suppose because for years I had no idea what a 'Sheetz' was or a 'Piggly Wiggly'.

 I see your point. I had lived in Maryland for most of my life until we moved to Florida. Even here in FL, I haven't seen any 7-11's that sold gas, so it is truly a foreign concept to me.

Oh well. Like I said, you learn something new every day. Sorry for my nievete' everyone. This is just a new one on me!

7-11s in Michigan do not sell gas, but 7-11s in Utah do.

I think it has to do with distribution networks more than anything.

:-o for real?!?! no gas?! DANG! YEP, all 7-11 sell gas here, love it over there because of slurpee, my girlfriend and i always get some! :)

but weird thing is that in california dont have no gas just a store that sells stuff such as candies, drinks, etc etc that you could think of. STRANGE! *shrugs*

at least we have 7-11 here so i can grab some slurpee! :) BRAIN FREEZE TIME! YUMMY! hee hee

I wasn't paying attention to the gas price...gas is gas..that's all I care..:)
Thats what DAD tells me. Gas is Gas, oil is oil we have 20 gas stations in my area i choose the cheapest one. Even i have to drive 5 miles to get the cheapest price.

7-11's sell gas in Maryland. I fill up at one all the time. I shoulkd clarify though that it is actually Citgo that sells the gas at 7-11's here.

That was kind of the discussion...in some areas they do. Not sure what part of maryland you are in (assuming possibly PG or Montgomery) but in many areas, the 7-11's are just convenience stores that don't sell gas. The closest one to me that I'm aware of is in Deale, MD and thats a pretty far haul from where I am. There may be some closer to me, but I've always seen just convenience stores with the exception of that one. I know there are more in other areas because I've seen them...such as PG and Montgomery and parts of Northern VA.

I lived in PG Co. until about 10 years ago, and I honestly never saw a 7-11 that served gas. Probably, though, these sprang up after I left PG Co? I moved to Talbot in 1995. Then, we moved to FL in 1998.

Yes, Citgo is one of their supplier. There are few other private "No name" supplier for 7-11 as well.

FYI, don't believe in brand name! I have caught few companies buy other brands of gas and sell it to you! What I mean, for example Mobile gas station sometimes buy real cheap gas from "No-name" generic oil company, and you pay top dollar for this!

It is impossible to prove what brand the gas is actually from. That is why I always go for the cheapest, yet depend on which gas station, how they maintain their pump! The worst gas station is those who don't do maintain their tank as they suppose to. Kwik-Fill in my area is the worst because the owner don't care about their pump, just sell it and make money. I discovered how bad they are, never again! I always buy gas from Coastal (Car Wash) because they tend to keep everything clean and tidy. They are number 2 cheapest gas in my area (Kwik-Fill is #1 cheapest).
