READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Sometimes a penny for your thoughts isn't a good thing. Readington Township school officials gave 29 students detention after they used pennies to pay for their $2 lunches.

Superintendent Jorden Schiff says it started out as a prank. But as the eighth-graders began to get in trouble for taking up so much time, it turned into a protest about Thursday's shortened lunch period.

Schiff said the students were punished for holding up their peers and disrespecting lunch aides.

Schiff said some parents think a two-day detention went too far and others think it wasn't enough.

The school said it wants students to know they can express themselves without disrupting other people.

That s stupid to punish students while they should focus on bigger problems.

This reminds me of a prank my friends and I did at this event at RIT. One group was hosting an event and admission was $2 per person.

A bunch of us guys got together before the event and planned this prank. The first guy would bring $2 worth of quarters. The second guy would bring $2 worth of dimes and nickels. The rest of us would bring $2 in pennies. When I approached the table to pay, I pulled out a bunch of pennies from my right pocket of my jacket. "Wait..." I pulled out some more pennies from my left pocket of my jacket. "Wait..." I did the same for my right and left pockets of my pull-off sweatpants and again with the right and left pockets of the shorts I was wearing under my pull-off sweatpants. :laugh2: Boy, those ladies were pissed!

Well, they deserve it. Some school have very short lunch period. So it's not right to make other people wait or even miss out eating because of prank like this.

All they have to do is deny those students any service.

"Gonna pay me in pennies, then say goodbye to your food!" *takes away tray*
