Just came home from drag race. I got free spectator pass tickets due student for auto.

That top fuel vehicles is the world gas HOG! They can't even meet at least 1 MPG, not even close to it and your supporting it?

I know these gas suckers gulps at least 10 gallons just for a quarter of ***A*** mile!

back to topic, Yes that's definitely crazy numbers right there. i am not fan of drag races though. tracks is the best!
 
Long answer.

Race car are illegal on the street and they do once or twice a week. That's mean they spend probably $30-$50 a week.

Good efficient and poor efficient are same trip mile.
Good efficient car like 30 mpg and spend $40 a week for full tank.
Poor efficient car like 15 mpg and spend $80 a week for full tank.

Street cars still spend more oil than drag race in USA.

Jeep Wrangler 4x4 2009 is 202HP at 3.8L V6 and made 19 MPG
Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 2009 is 380hp at 5.7L V8 and made 20 MPG

Grand Cherokee is little better MPG than Wrangler but Grand is much fast and more torque than Wrangler plus Grand Cherokee is bigger than Jeep Wrangler.

Jeep Wrangler is most poor fuel efficient.

Yes, It was 1/4. It's fastest ever I see in real life. Can you image it made 253 MPG in 5 seconds! It's pretty loud ever I heard and almost twice loud than 9 seconds race car and any drag race bike.



I am agreed with you about track but depend what kind track. Nascar track is lame and bored. I like F1 track and Rally.
 
short answer - 2003 BMW F650GS is 50HP at 652cc and made 50-60 mpg for 4.6 gallons

Ya'all have the most poor fuel efficient vehicles :D

nah not necessary. my 650cc steed can handle highway just fine (can reach up to 90-100 mph as well) and I rode Buell Blast down on NJ Turnpike last week. PLENTY OF POWER left in that little beast with only 500cc!! amazing!

Not just speed it's about weight and safe from semi-truck and strong wind.

eh I was fine in both of 650cc and 500cc bikes. Gimme any bike - even the mini version and I'll go on any road :laugh2: Heavier bike does not necessarily mean it's safer than lighter bike for highway. Hell - even a car or truck can get blown off by a strong wind! Driving in heavy rain is dangerous enough for a car - small or big.

Simply use your common sense to gauge the level of hazardous condition out there. If weather condition is dangerous to ride in, then it's dangerous enough for any kind of bike you're riding on.

I STRONGLY do not recommend more than 700cc for a beginner. Any veteran biker would tell you this too. The higher cc it is, the more dangerous it is for beginner. Put in at least 4,000 miles in your odometer before you step up to bigger beast. I cannot tell you how many accident stories I heard and how many members I know were either dead or seriously injured simply because they rode a powerful bike when they do not have sufficient experience/skill for it.

It's not the weight of the bike but it's the engine cc and level skill that are the biggest factors for beginner in terms of safety.
