hi
i wish to know u more than this i am cindy i live in kansas and i am an orphan soif u arewilling to know my yahoo id is cindy_luvu@yahoo.com

cindy

I recieved this PM today out of the blue, from the username deafluvu. I took a look at their profile, no information is given, and in their recent actions, I caught them viewing the who's online page (characteristic of scammers). If you get a PM from this person, please delete it. Scammers have no end to sob stories to gain your sympathy and trust.

Damn mugus. :madfawk:

if they are an orphan...how did they get on a computer?

:ty: Cental for the warning!!! Boy, will this ever stop? Wonders never cease what they will say next. The orphan thing is quite originial don't you think?

Original? No. I've seen it all. I've seen countless stories of orphanages burning, of mothers dying, and of deaf priests in Nigeria trying to start churches. There is no end to how low they will go to try to gain trust and sympathy. I experience this first hand, almost every day, and it gets more and more frustrating as I go along. I actually thought they stopped using the orphanage story because people were wise onto it, but apparently not.

School? Library? Or internet cafe in Abujas, Nigeria? In the couple of months I've posted here, this is not the first time I've seen a scammer, trying to pose as deaf. Heck, I see it everyday at my job. If you were able to view their IP address, I bet you anything it would not trace back to Kansas. They are also notorious for trying to gain affection through using words live "love" and "honey" a lot. Within minutes they'll be saying "Hello, love. I want to get to know you, love. Can I trust you with money, love?"

If you think they're a deaf orphan from Kansas named Cindy that loves you, then I'll send you a cashiers check for $10,000. Cash it, keep 2000 for your troubles, and send the $8000 back to me. :deal:

Please don't think I'm trying to be facetious, but I'm just really annoyed by these people.

 I don't think you're being facetious at all, and I understand your frustration, but, I didn't realize until now this happens so often, and they use these awful excuses to gain someone's attention and trust. Especially with this recent disaster with Hurricane Katrina, I am sure there are so many children that have been orphaned by this horrendous storm.

I do know where you're coming from Cental, and I don't blame you for being annoyed. I hope this person gets caught for being so awful as to do this to you and any others who received this awful message.

Thanks for understanding. There will no doubt be scams spurred out of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. We live in a sick, sad world.

i am deaf... i have bipolar... please pity me... please sent me money! I'll sent you money back if you do!

I got it as well. Oceanbreeze told me to delete it when I mentioned about it to her.

How is this a scam?

"i wish to know u more than this"

This sounds like she wants to get to know you more. Everyone has their own methods of approach.

"i am cindy"

She just gave you her name. That's a proper way of introducing one's self.

"i live in kansas"

Well, guess what... I live in New York. What's so bad about that? Just because she lives in Kansas doesn't mean that we can start treating her like Dorothy being lost in the land of Oz. ;)

"and i am an orphan"

Guess what!? I'm adopted! Maybe, my real parents couldn't take care of me so I was adopted by new parents. Maybe, my real parents died and I was placed in an orphanage. Later, a new set of parents came along and decided to adopt me as their own.

"soif u arewilling to know my yahoo id is cindy_luvu@yahoo.com"

If you want to talk to me more privately, you can always email me at vampyrox69@yahoo.com and I'll reply. Did I just do something wrong? Nah!

A scam is something where someone tries to cheat you out of something. Those so-called Nigerian emails are scams. Those Make-A-Wish Foundation emails are scams. A person wanting to get to know you better isn't a scam.

Its no doubt a scammer. They try to gain your sympathy, and then once they think they know you well enough, they'll ask for help with transferring money. I've already confirmed this person is a scammer. I took up their offer to contact them and in less than 2 minutes, they admitted they were from Nigeria. I have the coversation saved if you would still like proof.
