new dog sport called Treibbal

:wave:Bott!
I enjoyed it and the Rotties love to work, so it was a lot of fun!
Class involved shaping dogs to touch the ball with nose <in prep for later pushing the ball>, hit what's called a Target plate, which is any kind of flat-ish lid/plate/cover on the ground, and directionals. Since I train with shaping and capturing mostly, Kaylee has already learned to try different things that she thinks COULD get her something good to eat, so she quickly picked up the fact that I wanted her to touch her nose to the ball, and that I wanted her to move around a cone or post.

Motivated by food! Our dogs also. But instead, they have trained us to feed them if they give us a stern look.

Sounds like it will be a fun sport for you.

Thanks for the info.

I sent the link to my daughter who has an Aussie/Border Collie mix dog. :)

I love to try new things with my dogs!
I always start out training with food, especially puppies. It's rare to get a dog who truly "doesn't like treats" - usually it's because the handler is using biscuits as opposed to something meaty and stinky, and/or the food is left out all the time, thereby reducing the value of it as a reward.
It is hard to resist that stern or sorrowful LOOK......

:)
