I completely understand and am in a similar boat. Does it look like a regular doorbell? If so, probably no one will even notice. I wouldn't.
 
it's a box the size of cards with "door bell" written on it lol...it doesn't really look like a normal door bell, it's pretty obvious lol
 
Ok. Well what's all the fuss about "they HAVE to give you a strobe light! The ADA says! Milk 'em!" :P

Personally, I try to stay under the radar as much as possible. If you're looking to do the same, would it be possible to put the button IN your RA's room, so only he/she has access to it?

What if the RA's room is on fire and nobody can reach the button? :shock:

At RIT, the strobes are a normal thing. If people were really immature and wanted to be annoying, they'd press the regular doorbells and run too. If the light is way back in the suite, they'd not see it to laugh at it anyway.
