i have a kodak digital 4.0 mp.. had it for about 3 yrs.. it broke! :( .. went to get an estimate to see the possibility of getting it repaired.. but it turned out it would cost over $225.00 plus taxes which is outrageous!! :ugh:

i need a new digital camera asap .. cuz i am going overseas...

so any suggestions!?!?! kodak is ok.. but i want a different brand this time.. something simple.. and easy to travel with as well that also takes good pictures too!! i have a consumer report but they don't say anything about digital cameras! sheesh!... so i tried looking at consumer reports online.. but some of the links weren't helpful.. and the one link that i wanted to view in.. you have to subscribe.. but i didn't feel the need to do that just for a digital camera if you guys dig me..

i have an eye for the nikon 4800 and 5900.. anyone familar with those?? my sister says olympus is good.. and also minolta as well.. but i want someone who is FAMILAR WITH DIGITAL CAMERA to guide me/give suggestions, etc.. cuz i am tired of pushy sales people.. :ugh:

hopefully someone can help me out asap!! :fingersx:

Canon is good too, they are compact, but only has 3x optical zoom. You can pick one up in ur affordable range. I have a Olympus Camedia C-765 Ultra zoom. I picked one up for $288 online almost a month ago. It is compact with 10x optical zoom and 4 megapixels. :) You can check http://reviews.cnet.com/ for reviews on digital camera, go to the digital camera catergory and pick what u want to see review on or search it on what u want to know. :) Good luck hunting for one real soon! Also, have a great vacation overseas! :D

I have Casio 4.0 Mega Pixels. It's a good camera and also I can shoot video from it too. ;)

Don't know if its in your price range or not but I bought a Kodak Easyshare CX7530 last year and I love it. If you've seen the airplane photos I have, as well as my kitty pictures then you've seen the results. Its fairly easy to use and to import pictures over to the computer. I do remember when I first went to buy a camera, I was overwhelmed by all of the different models and brands. I'm glad I ended up getting this camera. The one thing I don't like is that it eats batteries like you wouldn't believe. I've bought rechargable batteries for it because of that. I've heard the same about other cameras eating batteries too so I don't know if its just a particular problem with this camera. Thats the only thing I don't like about it.

My first digicam was a Kodak, and my last three have been Canons. My primary is a PowerShot G3. Awesome unit. It handles like a 35mm SLR—it has full aperture and shutter priority modes, and even a completely manual mode, just like an SLR. And the batteries last FOREVER—I can and have filled up an entire 512 Mb. CF card without changing the battery.

Yep, about the batteries, I got the recharger for free that included with my digital camera. Only thing that I've brought beside the camera is the memory card. ;)

Interesting thread here.

I´m going to learn how to use ditigal camera... We are going to buy ditigal camera soon with my hubby´s 50th birthday money which he received from his friends who celebrate his birthday on New Year Eve 2004. He bought special bicycle with special offer for himself last March but some money still overleft. We are thinking about buy digital camera. We havent yet. We are still collecting the cons and pros about digital camera.

Most saying that kokak or cannon is the best... :dunno:

What seems to be problem?
Why I ask? I had similiar problem, my gf dropped accidently on concrete floor. It was not working.. I gave a good thoughts... since I got this camera for free... So heck I decided to drop it again! Guess what happened? It work just fine ever since then!!! I have not lost anything so far... Yup it is Kodak, and FYI Kodak camera now is ranked number one in world! Already beat Sony which used to be number one until recently!

I heard that Canon and Pentax's very good. I have seen some pictures taken by an Canon camera and it's really awesome.

Good luck with finding a camera that'll meet your needs.

Btw, where are you going? :)

i realized i failed to mention in my previous post.. that my digital camera is also a kodak easyshare too.. and my 2nd one as well.. i am not too crazy about it.. i take a lot of photos.. and i notice it is very slow when it comes to opening it (turning it on) i guess i have no patience lol .. or "taking" pictures, etc.. so i am keeping my options open..

i am surprised that kodak ranks nbr one now?? cuz it didn't when i first purchased it a few years ago.. unless they have improved since then?? :dunno:

i am a bit overwhelmed cuz i don't know what i want to get.. sheesh! :ugh: going nuts! grrr....

ill try that.. lol.. but i doubt it will do its wonders.. but we will see..

Call me an old dog but I never liked these new digital cameras that provide none of the sensory indications the old shutter based cameras does.

With the new digital cams you cant tell if the picture is taken and the new cams require you touch the button lightly till some light comes on then push it all the way down to take a pic. Theres no 'click' or 'buzz' vibrations the old cams make that tells me the picture is done taken.

I prefer the disposeable cams as you can feel the vibrations of the cam functions have the pics delivered to you in a CD.

Kodak cameras are now number one popular click and go camera. Its different from SLR, I doubt Kodak is number one with SLR because they don't make SLR format. SLR cameras are expensive ($700+). The reason Kodak camera being number one is the len quality, and that it enables taking picture with very high clarity quality. The colors are very rich. Its basically because of the way Kodak makes the lens. No other "Click and go" cameras match their quality.
So far, I have Kodak Digital Camera, DX 6490 Now you know what kind of camera I have. I wouldn't recommend you to try to get 30x zoom! It isn't worth it, and yes my camera can zoom up to 30x, unreal! For example, I am 20 feet away from a wall, there is 8 by 10 framed picture there, and I can zoom up to 30x and only picture from that 8 by 10! OFC, not clear, will be clear with tripod, but yet not 100% clear. But I DO recommended the one that can take 6.1 Megapixel. Can't recall the model number. They don't come with easyshare dock, and I have one, and I find it extremely easy to use. Just dock your camera, it will automatically recharges battery and transfer the photos.
I will try to find an article about Kodak being number one and why. If I do find it, will copy and paste and post it up here for all of you. :)

I like the simple click and go camera types without all the fancy technology stuff in them.

I am a Canon fan all the way. My S50 survived a 15 foot fall at Brickfest and is still operationable (not without damage to it, though). I would recommend the newest version of that camera, the S70.

thanks for the recommendation.. i am still overwhelmed cuz there is the nikon, olympus, minolta and a few others sheesh.. :dunno: how the heck i am gonna narrow this down! :ugh:

Depending on what you want camera for, and what are you into. If your into professional photography, then Kodak camera isn't for you. SLR is excellent choice for professional photography, that is because of ability to change the lens, and manipulation. But if you want just to point and shoot, nothing fancy. Then Kodak is best, actually Kodak cameras are target for "Entry level" to "mid level".
