Y! SPORTS

specatular crash .. but sad to see fans hurt..

Do fans sign a waiver saying they cannot sue Nascar if they get hurt from flying car pieces or gasoline if they decide to sit at a certain area?

Not in the stands. Sometimes in the pits.

OP, I really hate to correct you - this crash did not occur at Daytona 500. Daytona 500 is an event for Cup level which is today. Yesterday's race is Nationwide level (2-tier NASCAR) is called "DRIVE4COPD 300." And yes, it's at Daytona International Speedway. ;)

The yesterday's crash is unfortunately, but it's pretty rare for any debris to fly into stand. Good thing, none of them got killed. Last time fans have injuried from debris at NASCAR track was 2 years ago at Talladega. However, the fence did the job by keep vehicle IN track - not in stand.

We knew what Chevy was referring to.

I'm not sure how many NASCAR races you have attended or where you have sat but debris in the stands is actually very common. Serious injuries are uncommon though.

You may watch this racing program on FOX TV at 1 pm. Will announce about happening with crash and fans hurt.

I saw it on the news already and I saw nothing spectacular about it! It was very frighting to see all the cars crash up and see people get hurt. And I do not watch Fox news!

1) a : something exhibited to view as unusual, notable, or entertaining; especially : an eye-catching or dramatic public display

2) Fox TV is not FoxNews. (Although I should note, refusing to watch any particular news org leaves you susceptible to the bias of another)

Correct, Fox (News Corp) has different channels, like FX, Fox News, local Fox, Fox Sports, Fuel TV, Fox Movie Channel, National Geographic and Speed.

For me, I usually watch FX, local Fox, Fuel TV and Nat Geo (and Wild).

That's fine - but I don't want anyone in here tell anyone, "Did you see racecar flew into fence and injuried few people at Daytona 500?" And others would wonder if there's any flying racecar today.

You released them from liability when you bought the ticket. It's in the terms of conditions on the back of the ticket. Same with any other sporting events such as baseball or whatnot.

Yup, although I am not sure that would stand up in court. Full access Pit Passes sometimes require a signed waiver.

Scary. Glad no one was killed.

Wouldn't stop me from going to watch, or race for that matter. I'm more into drag races though. Even just being there to watch and feel the crazy roar of the engines right before they take off is an adrenaline rush.

did anybody notice in the video that spectators didn't attempt to remove tires off from injured person?

it's because a tire can be as hot as 200 degrees.

True. I still woulda moved it. Those people were friggin' helpless morons.

there's not much they can do anyway. it's better to leave it to professionals than to add themselves to injury list.
