I cant believe how fast the summer had went by. And wish there was more summer vacation. Anyway I may not be able to come on here as much anymore. Although this week I will still be coming online, cuz of residence not resolved yet, but after that I will be returning to residence and wont be online as much anymore. Only the weekends. So I will still be coming on just not as much. So I am expecting alot of new threads for me to read when I am able to get on and catch up on the converstation etc..

For the rest of you, enjoy your weeks, and behave yourself. :whip: :giggle:
Tomorrow?

Well, for me... school started today! Argh!

Under the Articles of Confederation, there was no central leader. Please how me your source.

nope not true! they said the pres could only have a year term in a 3 year span..

the congress elected john hanson to be the president.. george him self wrote a letter of congradulatians to him! it was on display in philly at carpenters hall.
growing up in philly i became a real history nut!
i did make a mistake! he was in office from november 1781 to nov 1782. it was hanson who set up the tresury dept, foreign affares dept,US post office(franklin as first postmaster),sectary of war,sec of state,..and a lot more!

Six other presidents were elected after him - Elias Boudinot (1783), Thomas Mifflin (1784), Richard Henry Lee (1785), Nathan Gorman (1786), Arthur St. Clair (1787), and Cyrus Griffin (1788)

george was the first under the constiution.and# 8 in order...but he was so freeking popular at the time everybody forgot about the rest.
it realy did not matter that he was by most standards a shitty pres.
he was the richest man in the usa and had the most land.. he used power and influence to get more land and push out people he did not like.
if tv and cable had been around back then he would have been the last guy to be pres.
one of my favorate facts is he bought almost a gallon of booze for each voter in his first run for office in VA! wow ! just get them drunk and tell them to vote for george!

Taken from wikipedia
The following list are those who led the Congress under the Articles of Confederation as the Presidents of the United States in Congress Assembled. The "president" under the Articles was the presiding officer of Congress, not the chief executive, as is the President of the United States under the Constitution. Also, the Articles defined the powers of a confederation of states as opposed to the current Constitution, which defines the powers of a federation of states.

Samuel Huntington
Thomas McKean
John Hanson
Elias Boudinot
Thomas Mifflin
Richard Henry Lee
John Hancock
Nathaniel Gorham
Arthur St. Clair
Cyrus Griffin
For a full list of Presidents of the Congress Assembled and Presidents under the two Continental Congresses before the Articles, see President of the Continental Congress.

So the "president" as defined under the Articles of Confederation was actually more of the Vice President, or Speaker of the House as spelled out in the Constitution.

ok

dont mix apples and oranges...
the fact remaind george boy wrote the letter use ing the words "the first president of the united states of america"
and by golly , he did a great job! when the army wanted to get paid (as promised) georgie and the rest, ran home! buncha wimps!
franklin, hanson, jefferson, reed and hancock stayed in philly to calm things down. if hanson did not act like THE MAN , the whole damb country would have fallen apart....again.
every history book worth its salt reconizes hand as #1 ..........and so does the plaque at carpenters hall in philly . :smash: check out the web on this stuff!

Hang in there, girl.. as soon you will know that you are done with HS for good... Keep on studying!

Hi... Today was my first day of school, it went alright today, it was nice to see everybody again, since i havent seen them since feb or march. The courses are good, 15 new kids in high school today, and like 10 new staffs lol.. Hmm... the courses I am taking are Auto, Hairdressing, ILC (Independent Learning Courses) and Biologly.

For biologly i have a teacher who has the cochlear implant, so it will be interesting for us to see. I mean I am in a class with 3 other kids who grew upw ith deaf families (no offense to those who have deaf families, but i noticed deaf families tend to be more closed minded about the cochlear implant) anyway so three kids in my class with deaf families.. and two of them hates cochlear implant, but the teacher seems nice, and seems cool. So I will see for the rest of the semester. SO it will be interesting to see their hmm what the word... whatever lol..

Other than that things seems ok.. Have a meeting next tuesday for residence issue. So hopefully the residence situtation will be resolved soon so i can return to residence.

I guess that is all to say today. So see ya later. Have a good evening as i am exhausted and am going to bed now. hehe.

My school starts on September 19th, summer seems like it has flown by, until I think of everything I have done.

Oh so you're commutting? yeah, some of the deaf families tend to be closed minded.....but just remember sixty or seventy years ago, DODAs were just as closed minded in regards to hearing aids! Wish you luck in getting residence....
i know how important it is....I loved.....and I mean LOVED living on campus....easy access to sctuff, feeling part of a community etc.......
