my first experience with the police

I just got home from one of the craziest events in my life. I bought some fireworks today, and so tonight, we went to a spot where we thought was secluded and safe to shoot some fireworks. Well, we start our little "bottle rocket war," and we ended up leaving once because we thought cops were coming. We decided to go back to an area that was darker and farther back. After about 15 minutes a car with a cop car screeches up with their spotlight shining on us, telling us to get on the ground, and asking us what we're doing. Basically I ended up laying flat on the ground for 15 minutes while my friends got drilled. The cop at one point drove off, and we all got off the ground to compare stories. Next thing we know he comes back. This time he busts all our fireworks and throws our PVC pipes away. Every other word out of this cops mouth was literally "Fuck." I tried to stay as calm as possible. One of my friends even tried to run away, but I talked him out of it. After all was said and through, we were let go. This was my first experience with cops, and I hope to God its my last. Lesson learned.

It sounds like you had quite the evening. I can understand him being a little upset because he didn't want to have to deal with a fire - has it been dry? But hey, I think the language was a bit much.

Yea, I hope u learned your lesson tonite... That is good that you chose to cooperate with cops, they're just tryin to do their jobs.. I only play firework when there's "legal period" in Minnesota where they allow citizens to use firework such as during memorial day, 4th of july holidays..

Massachusetts doesn't let you use them at all. People drive up to New Hampshire to get them and sneak them back to Massachusetts over the border. People shoot them off on the 4th of July when the cops are too busy patroling parades and firework displays to bother about back yard celebrations.

i always use fireworks from wisc.. they have the best fireworks.

minnesota they don't allow bottle rockts, firecrakers, so forth.. just simple fireworks come on!

wisc they can sell all year round any kind of fireworks except cherry bomb, huge explosive fireball..

so i go to wisc use their fireworks and do in wisc.. not bring them to minnesota but many of my friends b uy fireworks either south dakota or wisc and bring them to minnesota and use them here.. oh well if they're caught its $1,000 fine for EACH fireworks... yep.. if you have 10 different fireworks thats' $10,000 yikes!

RS pretty please leave this thread alone!! (keep finger cross)

If RS does decide to derail this thread, feel free to ignore him.

To be cxompletely honest, I'm not even familiar with Tennessee laws concerning fireworks. True, the cop was doing his job but he was really too aggressive. He threw my friend's phone across the concrete while drilling my friends. But all in all, it was an experience that I can look back on and laugh.

this morning i belive (thursday morning) now i wonder suppose one of ur group is DEAF.. i wonder whats gonna happen :/

I think having fireworks illegal is just DUMB and pointless....yeah there are drunken dumbos who don't know how to play safely....but why have stuff like sparklers illegal?

I should probably clarify. I only briefly mentioned "bottle rocket war." But basically, we were shooting these at each other, along with shooting Roman candles, and throwing M-90s. I never said we were the smartest group of kids. But it was alot of fun. If I was a cop who drove up and saw a group of youngsters (just to clarify, yes, we are all legal adults), I probably would have reacted the same way.

yeah.. alot of people use bottle rockets as a war.. shooting eachother.. frankly i remember the day my brother shoot his friends with bottle rocket and broke the screen doors at my grandparents cabin, etc.. and hurting eachother (burns)

i still don't understand why people still use bottle rockets as a war for fun shooting eachother.

Deafdyke.. to be honest.. most states banned fireworks for many reason.
and i know how you feel of this.. but i kinda believe those laws are wisely choosen..
many people get hurt, cut off their fingers from firecrackers, lose hearing, make forest fires, make fires on house believe me.. almost always on 4th of july or labor weekend i've seen many house fires on news caused by fireworks.

and mainly reason is because MANY people use fireworks carelessly and it cost states thousand of dollars to protect people doing those reckless fireworks

u kidding me?? Oh boy, RS does stir things up.. that's why I left for few days because he drives me nuts with his dumb comments....that's how I ingore RS.... :P

My feeling on fireworks is...how can I say. I can see the point of the laws to try and protect people...especially people who are not safe and have a potential to hurt innocent people. On the other hand, it hurts the people who are responsible and safe that want a little fun in their lives.

even ya know some states have good reasons to ban the fireworks...like for example in my state, texas do allow fireworks in country area but not in the city zone...

Whew, a good experience for you to learn.

In Utah, they do sell fireworks, even in Walmart and supermarkets, but only when firework usage is permitted during certain holiday periods such as 1st of January, Chinese New Year, 4th of July, Pioneer Day (24th July) and not sure what other days. On each date, one can legally use fireworks for three days (the day before, the day and the day after).

Sometimes if the mountains or landscape is too dry, they will post signs around saying that certain areas are banned for fireworks.

To get really good fireworks, one would have to drive one hour away to Wyoming to one of their firework stores on I-80.

I will never forget when I was living on the mountain, and could see the entire valley from my apartment. On the 1st of January, we saw many fireworks exploding everywhere all over the valley. It was really cool. Same goes for 4th of July and Pioneer Day.

MN history with firework..

It was banned in MN for like 50 years til I think in 2000 or 2001 legislature passed the law to allow some certain firework to be legal, and gov jesse ventura signed it in law and after that gas station, walmart, kmart, target, grocery store start to sell firework.. I know there is Super America in Cannon Falls sells firework year round..
