My DD is sick....

People get a fever because it is the way the body fight germs. A fever is okay for a short time, but it is just a warning that there is going on. It is best to wait a little while and let it nature to do its job. But, if the fever stays then it could be just about anything.

Damp cool cloth on the forehead always makes one feel better. Air conditioned room. Cool bath. All those things are helpful. Ice cold drinks are not good.

Most importantly drink a lot of water or juice but never take any juice which reads zero sugar or diet because that has aspartame or Spenda in it. Those are very bad for anybody to take.

Never feel badly for taking her to the doctor's or ER. It is your motherly instinct which is best for her.

Sometimes, the doctor give kids too many pills.

Good points, webexplorer. The fever is actually the body's way to fight an infection.

Yeaaa

How's she feeling now? Better? A few days to ride it out with a good watch on the thermometer...

Both of my little ones had fevers earlier this summer. One of them, we took to the ER. Nothing, she was checked for an UTI, ear infection and ? (I forget). She had a 103 fever but we were cleared to take her home and to let her recover. One week later, the other one but she's teething.

Often, it's better to let nature take its course.

She's been doing better. She's still runnin a slight fever, but she is up and playing now which is a good sign that the medicine prescribed to her is doing its job. We are just keeping a close watch on her temperature with the thermometer. The highest reading in the last 24 hours has been 100.2 which isnt bad compared to the 102.8 reading we got the other day,

She's eating better too. She's already ate a pop-tart for breakfast, and now wants a breakfast biscuit (which I will make for her in a moment) and she wanted a fruit roll-up to go with that. (I told her no on the fruit roll-up) I think she shall have the breakfast biscuit as well as some orange juice.

Myself so far have had a half a pop-tart for breakfast and I'm about to make me some coffee.

We just got back from the doctor and we have ruled out appendicitis (sp?) for now. If her eating and drinking drops off or if her bowel movements become unusual we have to go back. She's on two medications right now plus the fever reducer. She's laying here on the couch beside me sleeping. Poor thing. If I could, I would gladly take her sickness for her so she could be well.

I kind of had that when i was in the 4th grade or in the 5th grade in Febuary. I wasn't at school for about 3 weeks. I had a fever, I didn't want to eat because i felt completely full all the time, i was sleepy, I had a sore throat, i had a headache, i felt like i was gonna barf but i didnt thank god, and so i think i had few of her symptoms. And What I did to get myself feel better is eating my favorite fruit (peaches and strawberries is my fave..maybe she will too??) I would take a nice warm bubble bath for about 30 minutes or an hour, I would take a nap or watch tv in my bed or play with my barbies. And later i would catch up on my homework. So...I hope she feels better!! :D

How is she feeling?

Yea, I undy feeling worried when a fever is that high and lasts that long.

Her fever finally broke yesterday morning WHEW! She is fine now as far as that goes but dang she is sleeping like crazy. She's slept from 6:30 afternoon on. I just woke her up breifly to get her a bath and some pajamas on and now she's out again. But I suspect it is because she woke up earlier this morning and she did not get a nap in today, so she is more tired than, usual.
