I'm supposed to learn on my mistake to bought some complete season set, such as Laguna Beach (2 Complete Season Set), Real World (Las Vegas and NYC) and Jackass Complete Season Set, also Real World NYC is aired in 1992. All of them aren't CC support since back of case isn't give a more info so enough. I just like WTF at MTV for not support CC or subtitle, also 2nd Complete Season Set for Laguna Beach is CC supported but no subtitle because I need watch movies on Xbox 360, that hooked on HD monitor (720p) and upscale most DVD movies to 720p or 1080i, better picture quality and more resolution than 480i and 480p.

I think about want buy HDTV in summer because I can watch this 2nd complete season set for Laguna Beach with CC enabled but one member said Media Center (Windows) offers CC support in both analog and digital and need get PC that's media center support then able to get CC support on Xbox 360 via Media Center. It does require to have PC to expands on media center to Xbox 360 and able to get CC when watch DVD movies on Xbox 360 via media center.

Jackass 2 (Region 1) is CC and subtitle supported...

CCfan, I'm profoundly deaf and cannot use TV listening device then don't tell me about it.

are you aware that there is no such a law required to have CC/subtitle on DVD only on VHS?

Yea I am disappointed that MTV isnt added any CC and/or subtitle on any MTV DVDs

I glad I have Netflix.com there is no fee for the movie, if not CC, it would
be like stealing movies without captions without a fee, that what I tell you.
I tried it something-- oh, I saw Wild N' Out on DVD there is
bonus features not closed-captioned, that is period.

I learned my lesson when I buying "Beavis and Butt-head volume one"
I think that is closed-captioned, because Paramount was doing well!
But, did not provide closed-captioning, grrr. I glad Region 2 have SDH.
(Subtitled for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.)
I have Region 2 for Jackass Volume 1 and 2 that not movie,
just anything from MTV show have SDH. :)

Did you check the back of the box for the closed caption label or symbol?

That's the mistake that many people make when buying DVDs. They don't always look at the back, they just assume that it's already subtitled or captioned.

I almost bought Aeon Flux: The Complete Series until I checked the box and noticed nothing stating whether it was captioned or subtitled. After asking around, I finally found out that it was really not captioned or subtitled. So, I didn't buy it.

It's typical of MTV not to make their DVDs captioned or subtitled.

Funnily enough, Paramount is the distributor. I suspect it's MTV who is in charge of authoring all the MTV titles on DVD except for the movies.

Paramount handle the MTV movies (Jackass, Beavis & Butthead, etc) and caption/subtitle all the movies special features.

If you are seriously considering getting a HDTV, look into where the captions are supported. I brought a LCD HDTV that has CC. However, I can only use it on the Cable mode. It is disabled when I leave cable, i.e., go to DVD connection (component). So even if a DVD supports CC, some HDTV will not display it as the CC will be disabled. Find a model you want & see if you can find it on your own. Most salesmen/women will not know, and the box wil be vague (may say CC, but not where it's supported), so find the info prior to purchasing. I have a couple of DVD's that only has CC, but can't use it unless I put it on my computer (supports CC mode)

I do have a xbox 360, and a PC that has MCE but streaming the content is sometime a hit & miss. Pictures & music I can pull off without any hiccups, but video is sometime difficult. But still a solid product all around.

On Media Center (replaced from old MCE for Windows Vista) do support CC and its work when watch Laguna Beach DVD set (Second Season). It looks different from traditional CC on SDTV and HDTV.

most label on back of case are misled. That's why there is been sue and hopefully they put correct label that it has CC or not, more specific.

I have a lot of friends who buy DVDs from MTV and they aren't labeled. Yet, they open the box anyway and watch the DVDs... only to find out it's not subtitled or captioned. They can't get a refund because it wasn't labeled.

The only time it has ever happened to me when I had a mislabeled (was labeled with 'CC', but DVD wasn't CC) DVD was once when I went to Blockbuster Video.

It also only happened once to my friend who bought Hercules: Season 1 on DVD. The box didn't have CC labels, but the website did say it was CC. Since he bought it from BestBuy and it was their website that said it was CC, he was able to get his refund.

Run's House season set have CC but probably no subtitles.

I'm going to grab one but I have to watch it over composite cable (480i). :ugh:

Also, I can watch in 480p without CC or subtitle, oh damn.
