Mileage life on between American and Japanese car

I'm not looking for debate on between American and Japanese car but rather to interesting about mileage life, that how would they last for longer, such as could survive after 100,000 miles or more, which is one of them could survive in after 100,000 miles but for me, I would says Japanese car.

I'm big fan of American car, of course but usually for sport car, SUV and truck but prefer Japanese car for regular car, such as Civic.

What's average of mileage that American car would increase of engine issues and die?
 
Well, it depends on who people takes care of their car and maintenance. My 1993 Ford have 260K with original engine and tranny that still runs.

I do know Volvo and Hondas as well as Toyota can still run past 300K easily in the early days. I've seen some have almost half million miles on a Volvo and Honda around here.

So it all depends on how people drive and taken care of the car with maintenance.

In the early days foreign cars are better than domestic, but now domestic cars improved and lasts longer.

I would think the average life of the cars are about 200 to 250K miles and about 15 years before being taken to junk yards. So like I said it all depends on the factors who people drive and maintain their vehicles :)

Of course, diesel is known to have lower RPM, best torque, and less heat burning fuel than gasoline. Diesels are known to last half million miles easily when maintenance. Diesels have advantage over gasoline.

Of course, but diesel fuel price is expensive than petrol price.

Yup for east coast and midwest due refinery capacity.

Diesel is little cheaper in west coast but not much cheaper as gas does.

It need build more diesel refineries to push diesel price to make compare to gas, however diesel has little more taxes as well.
 
Some cars have design flaws which cause them to cut short....my car MAY have issue with connecting rod bearing... plenty of 98-00 Civic with D16y8 or similar motor have thrown a rod at between 125k to 150k....Im praying that nothing happens to it. Remember the guy here on Alldeaf (forgot his username) has a 1998 Honda Civic coupe and it threw a rod and had to get engine replaced.

Really? How much cost to have engine replaced?

Does mileage will reset to 0 after enegine has replaced?

But in last 6 years ago, diesel were little cheaper to fill than gas.

I had asked my hearing friend and he said not because of fuel efficiency.

It has with diesel refineries that's max at capacity and unable to make meet to demand at similar price to gas.
 
Try 155,000 miles on a 2001 Ford ZX2 Escort with the Zetec 2.0 4 cyl motor. Hell its made in America and pretty tough. That is if you can overlook the fact that the body and final assembly was done in Mexico.

I had a 1980 Ford T-Bird with a 302 that went past 100k miles before I sold it to my brother. One time when I had it gone past 110 mph the temp light came on. I was like wtf? so I pulled it over on the interstate. Checked the hood and whoooa the exhaust headers were glowing cherry red from the temp I accumulated going 110mph for 5 miles. 5 minutes of letting the header cool down I started it and drove on normal speed and didnt have my temp light go on. I just cant even fucken believe that 1970s-1980s American cars were pussies when it came to keeping on 100+mph cruises. If that car was on a German no-speed-limits autobahn, I'd have been looking at a new motor every year!

Now on to a 1985 Dodge Daytona with a 2.2 non turbo motor...That damn Mopar leaked oil and had to have a quart added every 2 weeks. Yet the Mopar was that fucken tough as long as I kept the oil checked. I finally got rid of it when I bought my 1994 Ranger.

The only import car that took my abuse and liked it happened to be a 1984 Audi Coupe GT with over 125,000 miles when I bought it in 1992. A few days after President Clinton's inauguration, I got caught speeding in that car doing over 100 mph with the tranny in 3rd gear and the tach screaming over the redline. Got busted by the California Highway Patrol for doing that. Afterwards the car ran fine until a busted CV joint did her in. Oh I forgot...the odometer was busted that I wasnt so sure the mileage was accurate. I decided that I had to keep the Audi on synethetic oil to be sure.

Hell I just like driving American cars and trucks. Its just pretty much in my blood. That is if you dont count a POS Toyota and that Audi.

About $1,000 for engine....japanese used engines are cheap, averaging up to 40,000 miles on it....because of their strict emissions, they replace engines every 3 years or so.

No, the odometer cannot be resetted once the engine is replaced. The odometer states the age of your car's body....not only the engine.
 
Australian replacements ranges from $1,500 to $3,500 -- my mother had her Ford Falcon Wagon engine replaced for $3,500 three years ago
