Well I might have to leave my temporary place where i am living right now.. I do live with my 3rd brother and his wife for a bit till I find my own place... the reason I might have to leave is there is a flood going on in the valley where I live... ehhh.. the water level is a bit high to my liking but will have to watch and see and hope it stay there.. if not, I will have to go somewhere (dont know where exactly but hope it wont be necessary) the town I live in has a ring dyke which is closed almost except for the road to the main highway into the big city about 10 mins away or so by drive.... ahhh... but once I know, I will inform for sure that I might be away for a while... I surely hope I dont have to leave fast but gotta be ready in case...

Have any of ya have had to deal with floods threatening your place (or in town) as well? That I wonder...

Ouch, hope you are safe and floods won't reach your place. That's gonna suck for sure. I have been threatened by floods before, of course.

Sharky, hope you will be safe and sound where ever you go. Flooding is not fun, its so scary when driving in a car and feel the swish swish underneath the car. I did drive in flood in Long Beach, CA on my way to work, one of the most scary driving experiences I've had. It was raining too made it worse. Luckily, I arrived safe that day in 1994:shock:.

Wow! Flood waters can be so dangerous. You be careful, Sharky.

Yes, please DO be careful! We had flooding last Summer in our basement, things were floating. Some years back bad flooding at my parents' house - well, not IN their house but in their neighborhood. They are near a parkway where there is a stream. They live a ways up the hill, and there are some blocks lower; those were affected by the water. I went to check on their house that day cuz they were out of town and there was a tremendous SMELL and I could hear water roaring and I went down the block and there were people going around in boats. A few days later all those people in that section had their possessions out at the curbs, big piles. I suggest having a med/disaster kit ready containing identifying papers, extra med.'s, canned food w/can opener and bottled water, extra plastic baggies of different sizes, flashlight, names/locations of places to stay/people you know, extra batteries for electronics or any handheld device where there is a concern that there may not be power and a couple of changes of clothes. Also same kinda of thing for pets. Even with the changes post-Katrina, unless you have a service animal, there could be diffculties keeping smaller pets <dogs, cats> with you.

Stay safe!

I can relate to floods! Hurricane Floyd (category 5) hit the Carolinas several years ago and I had to evacuate, taking all 6 of my dogs with me but having to leave the birds, goat, rabbits and cats! (Lived on a farm).

My home was in a "no flood zone"...but got some damage, mostly the roof.

I evacuated 60 miles away, and when I tried to drive back home, most all the roads were flooded out! Somehow, I made it back home, and all my animals were OK! Very scary!

I've since moved back to Florida.

I haven't dealt with floods... Careful and Hope nothing serious! :)

be careful Sharky

my sister and her family lives near the lake and they do have flooding problems and i am not sure of now.

I hope you are allright and be safe. Let us know the progress how you doing. :thumb:

I've been thru floods in 1994 which stranded the town I lived in. Cars can't go on any affected roads, the flood was waist deep. Be careful around the flood cuz it can carry disease, etc.

So far everything is okay but while I was going to that job interview yesterday I noticed the water on the land was a lot... wow what a sight.... but so far we havent been told to be ready to leave... as well the crest of the water might be a bit lower than predicted and that is good news for sure... will have to watch and see how it goes.... whew...

that is safe on environment to outside reason you help sand for block water flood.. you should be help people resuce for help safe encourage to people... that is why damaged your house and community that is very dangerous. I hope be you safe your alive; I hope be you are safe really careful that is not easy. I think so too much snow affect to you flood really easy fast flood influence water..

I'm glad that you didn't have to leave temporary, Hope everything will get back to normal for you. ;)

Well, my 3rd brother told me he will call my oldest brother, where I will be going for Ukrianian Easter, in case the water get high and I am needed back home to move stuff or so... I just hope it wont be the case today and tomorrow... 3rd brother said to me he will watch for any news about the water and if something happen to have the mandatory leaving necessary, I will be informed via oldest brother at dinner or so... but will see how it goes today...

Wow! Be careful! I have had no experience in dealing with dangerous floods but I heard that they can be deceptive.

I hope everything is gonna be okay for you and your family, Sharky. Be safe and hopefully the flood will decrease.

Sharky, sure hope everything will be alright with you and your family. Enjoy the Ukrainian Easter and relax, I know the floods are not fun and can be dangerous make sure you have plenty of water, food, clothes and etc with you.
