depends. some heroin addicts are so far gone that they'll have to depend on MMT for a long time but at least it's safer and cleaner than heroin.

yes very safe unless abused. they can die from doing it cold turkey. they can die from not satisfying their craving too.

One of my friend just learned about her new date who admitted that he's on a methodane treatment. She has some serious considering and she plans to end the relationship with him. =(

She does not know much about it and does not want to deal with it and does not want to take care of her guy anymore. She has been dating with a guy for three weeks and found out about it last night. =(

Methadone treatment for what?

What if it's for a serious illness or disorder? What if she marries someone and a year later, her husband is told he has cancer? How would your friend react? Would she stay and take care of him or hit the road?

Just a thought. She may be jumping the gun on this one.

I know but think of your future, will it flush your dream going into the toliet when he may become addicting to something stronger than methodane because of his habits. i know it will affect the relationship.

She and her date know each other before 3 weeks but they are in relationship for three weeks. She knows that he wants to make it work with her. But there are few things about him that bothers her, for example, he sweats a lot, he got tired very easily, and he often got jerk in his body when he goes to bed that she feels uncomfortable about it. She has a normal life until she met him as a former drug addict. It isn't easy for her either.

Yes. To me, it's not a solution. It's just trading one addiction for another. I would prefer to treat the addiction; realizing of course, that doing so doesn't gaurantee that they'll stay off drugs.

Heroin is one of the hardest drugs to come off and stay clean from. Heroin addiction is also one of the deadliest, if not, THE deadliest addictions to have.

He was addicted to oxycontain and he decided to get help for himself. That's how he is on methodane treatment for unknown number of years to get off from it or not. =(

Oxy, that's a painkiller. Rush Limbaugh was addicted to it. It's also the reason why he became deaf.

It doesn't sound like it's easy for him either.

yes it is. the problem that he was addicted to oxy for a long period of time. So he faces that he has been abusing with oxy and decided to see the doctor and got prescription for methodane treatment. thats cool But will he go back to become addict again? That's a big quesiton in the future for her.

My best friend is a renal patient who have to go on dialysis every second day; he was on oxyotocin, before the docs cut him off cold turkey. What a brutal, brutal recovery.

But he took it for fun that he didnt have any diease or anything. It was for his fun then become addicted to it.
