memoirs was a really good movie for anyone who wants to see this movie and hasn't yet. It stars ziyi zhang who was in heroes and house of the flying daggars as the lead.
 
yah i saw bits of it at work plan to watch it when the movie isn't so packed up
 
yup, it's a good movie from what my friend said, also my parent saw it too.
 
since I'm so interested in the japanese culture, I plan to get that when it arrives on DVD.
 
Hmm... I think I'll add this to my queue on Blockbuster Online. :)

Really? Interesting.

Yeah, it can be disappointing sometimes.

However, they do that in anime. A lot of characters don't always look Japanese. ;)

it's almost like hiring americans to play as spanish characters. :dizzy:
 
well they're all asian i don't see the problem... they hired orlando bloom to play an american when hes british... i still don't see the problem

Err... not exactly the same thing... really. They both speak English and both are white. America is filled with mixed racial backgrounds. Not really the same thing, anybody can play an American. However, it's a different story in Japan.

Chinese and Japanese, they don't look the same. They may to you, but when you look... they don't.
 
True. The chinese and the Japanese have a complete different history and culture and all...Japan has more freedom than China does and they can celebrate such holidays like us Americans do as christmas, valentine's day, and halloween.

(for ppl who thought christmas is part of an christian holiday, well it is, but in Japan, they find christmas as part of fun and happiness and loves gifts as much as we do so it's one of the reasons they celebrate christmas anyway...not because they celebrate the birth of Jesus though Japan is a non-christian country.)

Don't forget that the Chinese and Japanese have a very convoluted, bitter history. We're talking about civilian slaughter and mass wartime rapings.
 
i didn't mean all asians look the same.. i just mean they're all asian. i thought michelle yeoh looked most like the only japanese person in the movie. maybe they wanted an all star cast for the movie and they just happened to be chinese i still don't the problem..
 
I'm japanese and I can see the difference between japanese and chinese but I don't have a problem with them hiring chinese actors for this movie. This is after all a hollywood movie directed at a western audience.
By the way I haven't seen this movie yet. I'm waiting for the DVD. :)
 
my friends told me that very good so i wait for rent movie come then i will grab
