McCain getting slammed on late-night TV

That link just shows that TV programs are biased towards the Dems.

"From Sept. 1 through Friday, the Republicans were the target of 475 jokes by Jay Leno and David Letterman alone. The Democratic team of Obama and Joe Biden were the victim 69 times, according to the Center for Media and Public Affairs, which has been tracking such data since 1988. That’s nearly a 7-to-1 ratio."

"Letterman brutalized him in its wake; in two months, he’s cracked 280 jokes about McCain-Palin and 17 about the Democratic team."

"During September, Stewart and Colbert joked about McCain and Palin 211 times, versus 29 for the Democratic ticket."

"Comic D.L. Hughley, who began a comedy show on CNN last weekend, believes there’s a hesitation among white comedy writing staffs and late-night hosts to joke about a black candidate."

I only have one thing to say. I made fun of one of my friends WAY more than the other, yet I love them equally. So why do I make fun of one more than the other? Because she's such an easy target. Simple as that.

I agree with your personal perspective about two of your friends but I'd hardly draw a parallel with the situation in this thread.

I was about to say the same thing about McCain/Palin. They're easy targets unlike Obama who doesn't set himself up for being the butt of a joke.

All Palin has to do is open her mouth (using her own words) and you've got something funny to laugh at.

It was McCain who stood up Letterman, not the other way around. I can't blame Letterman for doing what he did.

Also, during the Clinton era, he was getting slammed every single night on Late-Night TV. I can't recall a night where Leno or Letterman didn't have some kind of Clinton joke. I used to watch them all the time when I was younger. They tend to follow the trend du jour and if a certain person is targeted by the media in general, they will make jokes. It's all for ratings, though Letterman considered what McCain did to be an insult.

No point in complaining about bias.
