I'm now watching The Outer Limits on Sci-Fi. This episode stars Marleen Matlin as this deaf woman who received an implant of some kind. No, it wasn't cochlear implant. It was something else. This implant was supposed to allow her to hear like hearing people could. Instead, it failed. However, she claims that she can hear "things"... perhaps thoughts?

The show is on now so I can't really say what will happen. I will give my review later when the show is over. ;)

Same here, too. I am watchin' at this moment. :D

CyberRed, I have to run errands right now
but can you please post here telling us
about it ? Thanks !

Okay, the show was over recently. Whew! Interesting show!

Apparently, she received some kind of electronic implant that was supposed to help her hear. Instead, she picks up some strange voices asking for help. As those voices enter her head, she gets headaches. To stop those headaches, she has to write down what the voices are telling her. As a result, she ends up with a bunch of 1's, 0's, and X's. At first, it was thought to be binary language. Instead, it was the X's that they had to focus on. Another character, a janitor, converted those into his computer and printed out the results. After putting them all on the wall, both (the deaf woman and the janitor) traced the X's with markers. It came out as drawings and instructions to create a laser to be used on their solar sail ship, that was heading for the sun, to divert it around the sun instead of into it. Unfortunately, her husband wasn't aware of what was going on and tries to stop it. Interesting show! ;)

That is an OLD espiode! I think it ran in 1996 or '97... it was about something from the outerspace that transmit those "noises" to the character Martlin played...
and the X and O she kept typing out on this computin device (to alleivate the noises that kept her up at nighttime) ended up to have a pattern so they pastered the papers of all X and O on a wall and they followed a certain pattern which outlined the images of a human male and female holding hands... something like that, right?

[edited: D'oh! you already mentioned that part. I didn't think I recollected it being caption-closed when I first saw it... :dunno:]

Yes, I know the show was on years ago. However, I didn't watch television much since I didn't have many channels back then. My parents were very conservative and only allowed simple channels such as your basic channels. By the time I came to RIT, I finally got my daily dose of Sci-Fi, USA, TBS, etc. :thumb:

When will this epposide run again? I wish the aliens would abduct me and put a super cochlear in my ears so i can hear far away as a mile. Like Jamie Summers was.

I checked online. They're not gonna run this show again. This was part of their afternoon marathon. I guess you'll have to buy it on DVD then. ;)

Found this site from CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News Isn't it interesting because it was discussing about cochlear implant. Martlin Marleen s parents were not interesting to get her a cochlear implant when she was little girl.

I strongly recommend you to read a new book, it called " I will Scream Later". It is very good book !! It was talking about her childhood with hearing aid and cochlear implant.
