Ok, when I was selling a Prius, the base model had a sticker price of approx. $20,000
It's ok. Your job was to sell sell sell Prius. and my job is to know what I'm buying :)

You take any other new car, for that price, and it still will not get the fuel efficiency of a Prius. Maybe, with the exception of one - the smart car.

Looks too tiny for me
Honda Insight can do the job just fine... and it's cheaper than Prius.

If your driving is mostly highway - it doesn't hurt to stick with a cheap used car like Honda. You'll be saving several grands that way.

If you prefer a brand new car, there are plenty of other cars with very good highway MPG for cheap... which is listed in the link you provided.

My job was to sell Honda too (and Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Jeep). I have driven them all.

If it is fuel economy, and you want a new car ... get a Prius. If you want fuel economy in a used car, get a Honda CRX or used Toyota Corolla.

There are a lot of people who refuse to buy a new car because of the immediate depreciation when it is driven off the lot.

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

Yea thats why I drive a old model which gets good gas mileage for that time. It saves me money rather than driving a truck or suv on the road. My gf's parents drive a 4 cylinder 4 door chevy colorado truck and it costs about 55 to 60 to fill up.

Toyota Prius and Honda FCX Clarity are not same energy used because Toyota Prius is hybrid car that still use gasoline since Honda FCX Clarity is fuel cell (hydrogen) that does not use gasoline.

For highway, car with diesel is better if you only have option like no cars with alternative energy availability in your area.

now oil price is going up because of job report. See. it's the free market controlling oil prices.

OIL FUTURES:Oil Futures Back Above $100/Bbl After Upbeat Jobs Report - WSJ.com

And I saw CNN news today and the guy just said, "Even if we do drilling here, it won't make a difference at all."

It's the free market setting the price. :( Even if we have all our oil drilled here, the free markets will likely hike it.

Thanks for the reminder of what really drives oil prices. Let's remember this next time some politician drags in oil companies execs to berate them about their "obscene profits" and starts an investigation into price gouging.

I said highway speed. Not local road here and Turnpike there. If you were to go on road trip which is mainly highway.... you do not benefit much from Prius.

Still depends on how far and vs what. SF to Dallas vs my old truck??? You would save a ton.

no I'm not comparing Prius with your truck. It's too obvious and it's apple-orange. Plus - both vehicles are not even in same category. Try comparing Prius to Honda Insight.

SF to Dallas.... you will not benefit much from Prius.
Commuting within SF... you will benefit much from Prius.

and no it doesn't really matter how far. 3 hours or 7 hours straight on highway are same thing.

wow... been a while since I've been on AD. No wonder you talked about SF's tax.. I was like what you're doing there.

why? too blue for him?

why? too blue for him?

yes too blue. I lived in CA for seven years and it was fun while it lasted. I am happier living in the rural with a bunch of dumb ass rednecks and neo-hippies.

I love it! Weather, women, beach, mountains and crazy people. Never a dull second.

We are sitting on the world's largest oil reserves.
