People who are deemed social misfits or "losers" aren't effective leaders, even if they are crusading for a cause that would benefit a larger group, according to new research from Rice University, the University of Texas and Universitat de Valencia.

....

Low-status leaders are ignored

That seems to fit in with "tall and good looking" people are more likely to be hired for jobs.

I have no problem believing it.

Yeah, ladies, aren't you glad the Marlboro guy was chosen?

I'm not surprised. Look at those treehuggers. They try to save the planet, but no one listens to them... cuz most of them are potheads, alcoholics, and hippies. ;)

I think it was interesting these low status leaders use punishment to get respect.

This mean, if you get to the point to use punishment, you are not meant to be a leader.

observing 80 people to base their observations is not a conclusive statement. it is like most polls that are done over the phone taking the date from say 1000 people and saying the whole USA believes such and such. totally irrelevant. the writer just needs to "publish or perish" in his/her field. bogus bogus bogus
