Losing war on Terrorism?

On August 5, 1973, PLO-Black September (Palestinian) terrorists toting machine guns and throwing grenades killed 3 Americans and wounded over 55 people when they attacked the Israeli lounge at the Athens airport. The passengers were waiting to embark on a TWA flight bound from Athens to New York. These inhuman barbarians were immediately arrested, convicted and sentenced to death. Six months later, however, they were set free as part of a negotiation agreement to release hostages held in Pakistan by other Islamic/Arab Terrorists.

Thank you for including this attack in your list. so often it's totally left off of the "significant terrorism incidents" list. Well it was "significant" for those of us who were there and had many nightmarish nights after it. It was "significant" especially to the families whose innocent loved ones were killed or wounded. I, for one, will never forget hiding under chairs and listening to the screams of the people trying to get out of the airport. I was the same age as the girl who was killed.

USMC LTC William Higgins, 43, American Chief of United Nations Truce Org, was kidnapped from a U.N.Peacekeeping vehicle by Hizballah pro-Iranian terrorists in Lebanon on February 17, 1988. After being tortured, Colonel Higgins was hanged. His death was video-taped and released by the Arab murderers for publication. His body was then thrown onto a public road. Colonel Higgins is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Ari Halberstam
The killing of an American teenager on American soil by an islamic/arab terrorist is a shocking outrage!

On the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, on March 1, 1994 a Lebanese gunman pursued a van of 15 terrified teenage American Jewish students while shooting a submachine gun, two 9mm guns, and a "street sweeper" shotgun. Ari Halberstam was shot in the head and died five days later. Three other teenagers were critically wounded in the attack.

The terrorist, Rashid Baz, chased the fleeing van with shouts of "Kill the Jews," hailed in Arabic. He was in America on an expired student visa. Investigators turned up four illegal weapons in Baz's home - a 9mm Cobray handgun, a Glock 17 semiautomatic, a "street sweeper" 12-gauge shotgun and a .380-cal semiautomatic pistol. Police also recovered a stun gun, a bulletproof vest, two 50-round ammunition clips for the Cobray and anti-Jewish literature. Baz was sentenced to 141 years in prison for the murder of Ari and the attempted murder of the other 14 students.

"Ten days after the Brooklyn Bridge shooting, the Hamas movement in Gaza released a communique praising Rashid Baz's attack on the van. With great pride the movement bestowed upon him the tile of mujabid, a holy warrior and Ibn Islam, a son of Islam, meaning one who serves as a role model and inspiration to others".

In 1982, at the request of the Lebanese government, the United States established a peacekeeping force between Muslims and Christians in Beirut. The Muslim forces however viewed the soldiers as their enemies and frequently attacked them with artillery and mortar. A stolen van carrying 2,000 pounds of explosives slammed into the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on April 18, 1983 killing 63 people. Hizballah Islamic terrorists were responsible for this cowardly, evil attack which killed the following 18 Americans:
