Local pastor encourages parishioners to have more sex
CINCINNATI - A Cincinnati pastor is kicking off a campaign Friday revolving around the thing he says can save marriages: more sex.
From a pulpit equipped with a stripper pole and bed, Pastor Mike Scruggs of Light of the World Ministries , located at 5915 Colerain Avenue, will be preaching to his parishioners about the values of more sex. The controversial topic is part of the church's sermon series starting at a pre-kickoff service Friday.
“For decades the church has ignored discussing sex, love and relationships from the pulpit,” Scruggs said in a news release. “As a result, unwed singles are having more sex than married couples and marriages are suffering because of it.”
Scruggs says the intimate connection from sex can be the glue that holds marriages together and without it, divorce is more likely.
About 50 percent of all marriages end in divorce, according to DivorceRate.org . Christians had a divorce rate of about 42 percent in 2011, according to research from the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago .
Light of the World Ministries is starting a month-long series on April 1 called “Battle of the Sexes,” which is about developing relationships through sex. The series will also help unmarried couples develop better decision making when it comes to sexual relationships.
The church’s pre-kickoff service on Friday is geared toward Tri-State singles and will cover the “10 rules of dating.”
Throughout the month of April, the church will address the dos and don’ts of the bedroom, intimacy blockers and trust issues. The church will also challenge couples to “Sexperiment,” which calls couples to have sex seven days in a row.
