What type of toys did you want as a kid. Was it Barbie, Star Wars Action figures, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, G.I. Joe action figures, Tonka Trucks? Something else?

Did anyone have a "big wheel"? I had one and my dad put a licence plate on the back with my name on it.

I had both Barbie Dolls and Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

I had a Barbie doll (with her little clothes), and a Raggedy Ann doll. :) I had another kind of doll but since I didn't know any better when I was really little and thought it was fun to give a haircut, I cut off most of her hair with scissors!

You're an '80's person aren't you Jellybean? I wanted a Cabbage Path Kid, I wanted one of those Power Wheel things......

Wow, you gave your doll a hair cut too. Ha ha, I did that to one of my baby dolls too. Do you remember Super Star Barbie Fashion Face? It was the Barbie head you could put make up on and comb her hair. I decided she would look good with freckles. To my sadness the freckles never washed off like the chalk make-up did. :) Oh well.

I had Raggedy Ann too. I like her because she had red hair like me. Back then most dolls were blonde or burnette.

I remember Garbage Pail kids too. We must be around the same age. I'll be 32 in October.

Remember fashion plates? The boy's equivalent was the "Monster Making Machine". Any of you boys out there have that?

Yes, I am happy to say I was a child of the 80's. I was 7 in 1980 and I was 17 in 1990. I had Atari, and my friends had Intellivision or Colicovision for a game system. I was the first person in my group to own the game pac-man. I had one fake cabbage patch doll - no signature on the bum - and one real one.

What a fun time!

EEEEkkkkk....I was born in '79! Someone who is six or seven years older then me is over 30!?!?!?! ARUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I too was a child of the 1970s and 1980s. :)
My fave toys in 1970s were:
1) spinning chair set, you move the centre wheel around and you spin like crazy, going dizzy
2) bouncing ball chair, you sat on this ball with a handle and bounced around
3) this brown Teddy Bear that my mum would always "animate" by moving its head and pretending that Teddy could sign with me, I would always laugh like insane

in the 1980s
1) Atari 2600, of course!!!
2) LEGO
3) Hot Wheels

I was a child of the 50's-60's. I had original Barbies, Shirley Temple doll, ballerina doll, stuffed animals, Slinky, Jill doll, Ginny dolls, Western cap guns, bike, globe, plastic model kits to make, books, large Colorforms set, Viewmaster, hula hoop, baton twirling, hopscotch, marbles, and penknife.

well I was born in 85 so Im a 80's/90's child, we always played lego, hotwheels cars, tonka trucks, barbies, my little ponies, power rangers, and of course video games like nintendo, sega and all that...wow Im getting old..hehe almost 20!

Kuifje - I believe the spinning chair was called a sit and spin. I never had one but my friend did and I was envious. I did have the bouncing ball with the handle. I called it a hopity-hop because I used to hop around the back yard on it.

Reba - I forgot about colorforms. I had those too because they carried over into the 70's. I don't think they sell those anymore.

Jamie Lee - Your friends had My Pretty Ponies and Power Rangers. My brother was born in 1982 and his friends had those. I bet if you still had them they would be worth money.

No, ma'am.. you make me feel real old. :giggle: You're just the same age as my sister is. I'm 25.

I was a child of the '80s, born in 80 and all that. Barbies, my little ponies, cabbage patch doll, legos, nintendo, small cute stickers & erasers... my best friend had dozens of barbies so I'd always be at her house playing all the time until she moved. My parents weren't big on toys, so we kids played with educational games such as reader rabbit, jeopardy, carmen sandiego... and DOOM wolfenstein. *shifty eyes* IF we were good, that is. MS DOS command was da shit in the olden days. :) Plus, I had my imagination and would always be outside playing for hours with friends and by myself too.

i was born in 1986, so i was the late 80's and the 90's child. I would play with dolls, lego, barbies, etc, also use my imagination for play.

I was also one of those kids who give dolls haircuts heh. I gave my favourite doll a haircut and put make up on her with marker (of course it never went away) it looks more like a tattoo than make up lol.. I still have that doll.

:) I tie in with Reba. I am a child of the early 50's. I loved my colorforms. Every week I would ask my parent's to buy me a different colorform set. Toys were so different back in the 50 and 60's than they are today.

LOL I was born in 1969, so I am now 35....will be 36 in November. :) Reba just reminded me....I also had Slinky too. :)

So this makes me a kid of the 1970s, and a teenager of the 1980s. :)

Nancy - a little off topic, but because you are 4 years older than me, you were lucky. You were 18 in 1987 when clothes were still colorful and fun. By the time I stared college, everyone was wearing black and brown. Yuck!

It's amazing what 4 years can do.

Maybe I should start a new string called my favorite clothes I ever owned. Or better yet, the worst clothes I ever owned.

Colorful and fun.....oh yes, I remember that, especially NEON clothing!! :D What I remember the most about the 1980s was BIG HAIR....I remember staring at some of the girls in my high school with those kinds of hairstyles. LOL Plus during my Freshman year in 1985, some of the girls dressed like the singer Madonna (the Like a virgin look that was popular at the time).

Sorry to be off-topic though. :)

especially NEON clothing

Liza, do you remmy Oregon Trail? LOVED Oregon Trail!

You were on topic, I wasn't.

Hi Nancy -

Oops! When I posted my reply to you, I didn't mean you were off topic. I meant that I was going to ask you a question that was going to be off topic and I wanted to let you know. I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that.

Neon! :) ha ha, I had a neon pink wind breaker jacket. I was the coolest kid in Jr. High. :) Along with my beads, stretch pants, and over sized sweatshirts. Oh, and remember the socks that went over the bottom of your pants. :) I had every color of the rainbow.

Okay - I'm starting a new thread. This is fun!
