Left with Nothing

Are you saying that there's no law protecting elderly homeowners with health/mental problems?

Unfortunately there are a lot of services and discounts for elderlies that people do not know about. I was making some phones calls for someone and found out that the city gave seniors a discount on their water bills. My daughter mother in law's mother lived in that city and in her own house and was 93 yo when she dies. No one knew that for 28 years the woman could had gotten a discount of her water bill. People really needs to find out if there is any services and discounts their parents or grandparents can get if they live on a low income. The city will not give out this info, you have find out on your own and I think that stink .

Yes, they should be more proactive in informing the elderly of their benefits.

In our state, people over 85 don't have to pay state sales tax but they don't all realize that, and the clerks don't actively offer that information. Some stores do have signs posted on their doors and checkouts to inform them of the law but I don't know how many people notice them.

Now that TCS and I are "senior citizens" we're always on the lookout for discounts and ask about them.

I guess some store always have so much junks on their doors that people just think everything is about a sale . My sister has a friend that was having trouble with something , I can't recall what it was anyway my sister called me to see if I could help and find something and I found some info for the woman on line. It helped my sister's friend , I guess some people just do not know how to get look or where to start. It was a drag I got so ill and was not able to go back to collage as I really likes trying to help people that need it. I wanted to fight for people that could not fight for themselves.

Oh wow, DC is taking action of those situation after they realized about property tax on media.
D.C. officials want changes to tax lien practices but ignored earlier calls for reform - The Washington Post
So now they are going to protect those old vulnerable people by making a new law. I know it because there's no way the politicians let scammers take advantage of them anymore. I remember long time ago life insurance salepersons were busted for scamming old people. There were news about it all over USA at that time.
