dying. He is going to call MS within 48 hours.

Oh... shot. I wonder MS still hold the extended warranty for launch-day units included Steel X's?

Not surprised... Now, he's no longer to get lucky.

My Xbox360 was manufactured on october 2005 and got it since launch and was working ever since 'til friday 13th (yeah I know...friday the 13th  you dont need to tell me that)

Anyway, I've just called MS and they did say they will send me an repair order after I call them again in 48 hrs...

at least the console repair is free because it was a launch console and was manufactured in 2005.

Yeah...my console started having annoying screen freezing and shows "dead pixels" on the screen such as square patterns, etc...It froze on three Xbox360 games, a dvd movie, and even an orginal Xbox game and still freeze on me so I found my 1 yr warranty and is thinking of replacing it sometime.

I'm against on vertical for PS2 and 360, and rather to leave them as horizontal.

You aren't realize that Intercooler with vertical would prevent to get problem? That's doubt about what happen but 360 on horizontal is much better, and don't matters about Intercooler if require vertical or horizontal but most gamers are rather to leave 360 as horizontal with Intercooler.

Thanks to DefMATRIXense and Dr. Strangelove about mentioned that vertical isn't good for 360 and horizontal is much better, and less to get problem.

I feel funny putting the XBOX360 in a vertical postition, as to seeing the bottom has a vent, and If I had it vertical, I don't feel as if I am getting the proper ventilation for my system. Then Steel noted that his DVD/discs would get hot and the bottomo of the system got hot. I checked my horiztionally placed 360 for any heat on the bottom. Sure enough, there is some heat. I will have to put little nugs underneath so the system will be cool.
Also, my biggest advice to anyone who owns a console or dvd player is to cover it up with a towel or have it on a shelf with either a wooden or glass door. I advise this because this prevents dust from getting in your system when not in use. I learned this while having a PS2 and having it vertical on a wooden floor. It collected dust pretty quick and caused it to not work properly after just 1 year.
Best of luck with your 360 console, Steel.

Yea, he just put his 360 on vertical.

Just got another one as replacement today, fellas...what's alittle different about the new console I got is the power plug have only two metal parts instead of three metal parts on the plug...u know what I mean? Also, they even put a warning sticker on the disc tray saying dont move the console while the disc is in too lol of course I already know that. I dont know if it's my imagination, but the new power supply is smaller? lol hell if I know but it seems to be working much better than the old one and I really hope it wont break down on me again thou I have already paid for another warranty, just in case.

Why does MS changed their power supply? Before is 3 then now its 2...

Steel X, you tried to hide it from us which you dont want us to know whats going on with your 360 core, you can correct me but if i am wrong? ....Now see that your xbox 360 core is dead..Thats suck! You received the warranty from MS for a year? oh pain..

Thank God best buy serve me the replacement plan for two years.. Did you know that I can get renew replacment plan if it is expire?

THANK DefMATRIXense already spit on thread about this revealed us that Steel X got 360 core's problems..

anyway, Good luck with your sweet 360 core!

Dont worry bout it...and I dont care whether he told you guys or not cause I know i'm not the only one who had that problem...I know many of you including defmatrix, xbxgamer, and even me had problems with the console so we all get replacements and I got mine and says it was manufactured 7-22-06 and noticed there are more metal parts on top of the system when I put it on vertical stand and two metal parts on the power plug instead of three metal parts so it looks like it's a improvement over the launch console. I really hope it wont happen to me again yet I've heard MS is already updating the consoles with improved chips that won't be out 'til next year so lets just hope mine still works just fine for a long time then.

Good luck with your new console!

His Xbox 360 is dying already!? That sucks! My Xbox is still running since I got it in 2004. :)

Well Xbox have far less problems than Xbox360...expect for Xbox live issues and the power cord that is. I got my Xbox in summer 2002 and worked great ever since and not a single problem reported so I learned my lesson, fellas...to NEVER get a console at launch since it's not completely...how do you say this? error-free. of course, it's not surprising that such systems at launch would carry in afew bugs anyway. Better wait for a year or two before you can get the system anyway.

You're right, Steel. It is not always wise to rush out and buy a launch console, esp from Sony. I didn't expect many plms with the 360 because of the Xbox's pretty good track record. I would not buy a PS3 at launch because of Sony's rep for having shoddy or shitty launch consoles that only have u buying another PS3 in 15 months.
I will be waiting on getting the Wii until after the spring or in the summertime. I feel there aren't enough games that interest me enough to get a Wii, and I am backed up with a few Xbox360\PS2 games to play. I know that Nintendo is the more reliable console brand of the big 3 (N, M$ and $ony) but you never know with the Wii.

Most newly designed electronics being released mostly get bad batches, there's nothing you can do about it. It's not just the consoles, it can be DVD players, computers, TV sets, etc. Same goes with the cars, brand new redesigned cars will have a lot of problems compared to the 2nd or 3rd year of that design.
