I thought they were illegal for schools to use them. I know the schools and daycares no longer use them here. Our church got rid of our van and got a small bus instead.

because of safety issue, especially rollover?

Personally, I don't think the the students should have been taken out of school to vote for any member of any party.

so these students are 18 years old? :hmm:

That I have to agree with because I have to drive those vans on field trips and I am a little paranoid about them beign those roll-over death traps. :eek3:

simple solution - seatbelt.

Really???? Your background is in Psychology and you can't see a problem with handing students a sample ballot with only half the candidates listed right before they go in to vote.

I am pretty sure that's covered in 101

Nope, not illegal. My son's daycare uses them.

Oh, my. I guess it depends on the state.

Most states require the use of school buses to transport children to and from school and school-related events, but some states do not. NHTSA recommends that preschool and school-age children not be transported in 15-passenger vans. The 2005 federal highway reauthorization act prohibits pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools from purchasing, renting, or leasing new 15-passenger vans to be used significantly to transport students to and from school and school-related activities unless the vans meet the federal standards for school buses or multifunctional school activity buses. ...In August 2003, NHTSA amended the school bus safety regulations to encourage churches and other groups to use buses instead of vans.10

Not only that...it makes learning purposeful for the kids and then they will really learn and APPLY it to real life which is my goal for my students. I dont want them to learn things in the classroom but not be able to use what they have learned in real life. Sometimes, it takes field trips to do that.

Absolutely. No learning experience is meaningful to a kid that they cannot relate back to real life. How many times does a kid ask..."What does this freakin' Algebra have to do with my life?"
