Many heart attacks start slowly as a mild pain or discomfort. If you feel such a symptom, you may not be sure what's wrong. Your symptoms may even come and go. Even those who have had a heart attack in the past may not recognize their symptoms, because the next attack can be an entirely different experience.

It's vital that everyone learn the warning signs of a heart attack. These are:

Chest discomfort.

Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts for more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back. The discomfort can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain.

Discomfort in other areas of the upper body.

Can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach.

Shortness of breath.

Often comes along with chest discomfort. But it also can occur before chest discomfort.

Other symptoms may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea, or light-headedness.

Learn the signs — but also remember: Even if you're not sure it's a heart attack, you should still have it checked out. Fast action can save lives — maybe your own.

Hi DeafMonkey,

Ask your grandfather to chat with him on yahoo messenger and you can set up a webcam or vp to chat with your grandfather so you can keep in touch in real time.... That would improve his health and his morale will be boosted to be able to chat with his granddaughter and hear how you are doing as well as you hear how he is doing. God Bless.... :) :thumb:

:gpost: My mom had a heart attack about a month ago already and she told me on Saturday what it felt like. You have to remember that, for women, they may complain of their bra feeling too tight, which is what she did. She also said she was very hot.

I'd have to expand on what Heath said about "having it checked out." When in doubt, call 911. Do not call your insurance company's Nurse Line or anyone else, time is of essence, as there is a two hour window of time to get you stabilized. Yes, even if it's 2:30 in the morning, call 911. That is what they are there for and you are NOT bothering them.
