KALISPELL, Mont. -
It's a call no one wants to make, but when 9-year-old KC Nouque's mom collapsed on the floor Saturday afternoon, he knew it was the right thing to do.
"I didn't want my mom to go, so I dialed 911," said KC.
Christy Nouque was having a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic she had taken just minutes before and went into anaphylactic shock. KC called his dad, Ken, who told him to dial 911 for help.
"KC was talking to the 911 dispatcher, praying over me, telling me to wake up," said Christy.
"I was kind of panicking but I didn't do it until my dad came home," KC explained.
First responders quickly arrived on the scene and brought Christy to the hospital. She said KC, a third-grader at Peterson Elementary, is a brave boy.
"I told him not to dial 911 and I'm so glad he didn't listen because I would not be here," Christy said, tearfully. "Very proud of him. Loves to play soccer, loves to play football, and he's a good kid."
"I'm just glad I didn't listen to my mom," said KC, "and I will have her for a long time now."
KC and his mom will now have many more days to kick around the soccer ball, all thanks to his heroic efforts.
