JEFFERSON PARISH, La. -
The Jefferson Parish School System said Tuesday night that it's getting rid of 17 school principals.
School leaders said the principals did not meet academic growth target goals for three consecutive years.
Most of the principals have been fired and replaced, but some retired after they heard the news. Others were leading schools that closed at the end of the last school year.
The schools affected include: Homedale Elementary, Maggiore Elementary in Metairie, Clancy Elementary School for the Arts in Kenner, Cherbonnier Elementary in Waggaman, Harris Elementary, Estelle Elementary in Marrero, Green Park Elementary in Metairie, Audubon Elementary in Kenner, Marrero Middle, Livaudais Middle, Live Oak Manor Elementary, Terrytown Elementary, Theodore Roosevelt Middle in Kenner, Catherine Strehle Elementary in Avondale, Thibodeaux Elementary in Westwego, Pitre Elementary and Gretna Park Elementary.
