Aww your rats are so cute. I have two females, one is a cinnamon color, her name is lilly and bamboo is a white with black hood.
I want more, but have a hard time finding a breeder here in Arkansas.
Rats have a lot of stereotypes, people always think theyre dirty, they smell, they bite, they are mean.
When its just the opposite, rats are so clean, everytime you touch them they will run back in their cage and start to clean them selves, i have a loft style apartment and my rats are actually in my dining room, if you dont see them you dont even notice they are around, they dont smell at all, if youre a good parent. Also its usually the males that tend to territorily pee more than the females.
I have never had my rat bite me, they sometimes nibble and sniff at you if you smell life food. The only time one of my rats have even come close to biting me was when i was feeding bamboo a little stick of celery and i wasnt paying attention, she was trying to pull the stick through the cage and tried to pull my finger in with it. They are so friendly, some are really hyper and just want to run around and climb on you and explore and some are really lazy and just want to lay on you and sleep. They are so much fun to watch, they are always playing or doing something silly.
I wanted to ask another rat owner, have you ever had two females try to hump each other? My younger rat tries to hump my older rat, and my older rat is normally the more dominate one, but she doesnt seem to care.
