Its snowing in ARKANSAS!!

Im not sure what it is personally but I do agree we have been having some wacky weather, not just in Arkansas, but all over the world. Ive also noticed El Ninos are occuring with more frequency in recent years whereas in the past it occurred once every decade.

I think there is global warming but I dont think its going to be the big meltdown catastrophe that much of the media is having people believe. The earth does go through normal warming and cooling trends and I think this is one of them.

And as FC said it really doesnt snow that often here - although my brother who works at the lodge on Mt. Magazine says they get snow up there on a fairly regular basis because it doesnt get above freezing from late October until Mid to late March and sometimes as late as mid April. I really wish we could get a super thick heavy snow that buries the back patio, now thats thick enough to get off work AND build snowmen! :D

yeah shel.. i guess its rare events for down here. it used to snow lots here when i was young cuz i remmy it snowed in oct and now it doesnt snow till dec or jan... but now its getting to the point where we would get snow 3 to 4 times during the winter time whereas we got snows alots in the past.. my mom said weather sure had changed so much since 70's. interesting i guess due to global warming? oh well ! thats sad.....

There's interesting to know...

Miami, Tampa, Orlando and central/south FL got snow on last time in 1977 but haven't been snow for long time since 1977, also I noticed that snows are more often in southeast USA in before 80's and now, it's getting more rare.

Could be global warming. I however think it's a pattern. I don't think we have long enough record of weather to know if it is global warming or not. I peronally do not belive in global warming.

its not just snows.. but the cold temps dont stay here very longer when in the past it can stay cold for weeks. so yes it had changed so much since then.

average temps here during winter is 40's to 50's and at night time 20's to 30's. so that is not cold compare to the past as it can stay colder below 32 degrees.

Mom and dad say there was a huge snow storm in the late 80s, I barely remember it, but I do remember us getting stuck in the snow and having to walk up the road to my grandparents house and the snow was so thick that I had to be carried on my dads shoulders. I wish we could get snow like that again - that would be AWESOME!

But ice - blech forget it! I aint driving in that frozen shit!

yes your parents were right. It was barely two weeks into the new year of jan 1988- we had a rare but a powerful snowstorm where it wont stop snowing for 3 days. I remember I was 15 then. Boy I was so excited! I was not the only one. my dogs loved the snows too! I measured it was 22 inches but in some places snow drift was higher to 30 inches or more. dang! we couldnt go anywhere as we were stuck at home due to ice and snows for 2 weeks. I was not able to go to school either. I wish we have snows like that! it would be AWESOME! :)

More snow in NH last Saturday and Monday and it is now come to above my knee. I had to snowblowing my driveway twice. Boy it is all over now. Sure the snow will be there til April I believe. LOL
