Is it considered sexism to vote for a woman to be US president just because she is a woman?

Do you even know what sexism is?

Anyway the answer is: No

Why is your answer "no?"

What do you mean, if I know what sexism is? I'm sure everyone has a different interpretion on what is sexist, and it is fun to play the devil's advocate to get a discussion going. I have my heart set on Edwards... I guess people would be surprised that I'm not rooting for Hilary, and I am sure she is qualified.. but I don't agree with some of her positions on issues, and I just happen to like all of Edwards' positions so far. But if I vote for Hilary just because she is a woman.... wouldn't that be just sexist, just as you would vote for a man to be a president simply because of his gender?

If a woman claiming how mens are, then that is sexism. There are lot of womens are sexism. But men likewise about women. If a woman wants to be a president for bec proving what women can do, can be sexism, but not always so, its depend on which behavior and comments. if its too much about women and degrading men, that would be sexism, there are lot of women are doing that.

If she want to be president just to prove that women can do as men, then that's sexism.

About her plan for America as sexism? No.

If people vote her just because she's woman, that's sexism.

If people vote her for her plan decision for America, that's not sexism.

Sexism means you discrimination against one of the genders. If I know someone who are sexism, I will DEFIINITELY refuse to social with that person period!!!

Voting for her just because she's a woman as a personal preference is not sexism. Look at the list below, and see if you can apply the original question you just ask, does any of them match?

  • The belief that one sex is superior to or more valuable than the other;
  • The belief that one gender is superior to or more valuable than the other;
  • Female or male chauvinism
  • The attitude of misogyny (hatred of females) or misandry (hatred of males); as well as
  • The attitude of imposing a limited and/or false notion of masculinity on males and a limited and/or false notion of femininity on females, or vice versa.
  • A feeling of distrust towards the opposite sex, most frequently operating at unconscious level.

If people vote her just because she's woman, that's sexism.
So if I vote for Barack Obama just because he's black, does that makes me ... racist?

See where I'm going with this?

About Barack Obama, bec he is black, it is racism. I vote for RoadRunner, bec he is deaf, that's out of hate also. Anything particular of sex, race or anything by voting for is out of hate. But proving whomever which can do it, is a different story.

A lack of understanding of the word hate here is clearly apparent.

There are different level of hate. Racist and hate are best friend. Sexism and hate are best friend.

Voting and hate are best friends too?

Not always. There are lot that are in that level. But like some who vote because they agree whatever the issues is. I know there are very sticky in this issue. Like taking it out on violence, that bring the hates. Let me put it this way, like sport teams, do we go for the team whomever you support out of an attitude for fun or hate? Voting, do you vote for what you agree the POV in politic views or vote out of hate, bec can't stand the opponent? Every person is different and their motives are different. Can't determine what "I" think of particular group. Like KKK, we know obvious is out of hate. We don't support of hate. As the news said, hate crime is growing, and hate group is growing like crazy. It is a horrible thought what will coming to, when and whatever their plans will be.

I have no idea what you just said or how it applies to sexism so I'm going to respectfully withdraw myself from this.

Lets back it up, I know what I explained little off topic. Like you mentioned in post # 6. When we view about sexism, which mix in racism. Byt trying to getting the point if its racism if I vote Obama bec he is black. Sexism is similar, I vote for Hillary, bec she is a woman, that be sexism.

No I do not vote because of sexism or whatever but look their intelligence and knowledge skill.

Really? I know who discriminate against blacks but they do not hate them. Racism is not hate but when you beat them because of racism, it is hate.
