I never heard of Oral cancer so I have no idea if there is a cure for it. I hope others can input the info.

i have heard of it, but I dont know if there is any cure or anything like that. I would have to find out somehow. my mom's friend have oral cancer I wasn't sure if it was mouth cancer, now i know oral is for anything relates to mouth.

Yes I heard about oral cancer but it´s rare. I don´t know much about this.

Cigarettes, pipes, cigars, chewing tobacco, and snuff is is the most common cause of oral cancer. If it is discovered too late, a person is diagnosed with advanced stages have a poor chance of survival. After the surgery, cancer patients end up with missing jaw, teeth and/or a part of the face that are completely unrecognized. It is sad.

I hope they don't take that parts out of my brother. He always invited all my family, his friends and all their children ( cousins, grandkids, etc., etc. ) to his house for Halloween party in every year. Always on the 31st of October. It was fun havin' everyone around him and had a good time. Good memories for him.

My brother don't chew tobacco. He smokes.

I have sources directly from hospitals. Cancer runs in my family. I know the routine well. Last time, my cousin holds a doctoral degree in physical therapy told me he worked with one of his patients who had oral cancer. A part of his jaw and lip are gone. His patient plans to have cosmetic surgery to correct his lip and jaw to appear normal. I want to state my comment that I'm so sorry to hear that your brother has it. I can understand your position. It is normal to feel sad and stress when somebody you love has cancer. Your brother will need your full support mentally when he is faced with chemo and surgery, which is not a easy task. Where is this cancer located? Teeth, Jaw, or mouth? He had his biopsy done?

These are excellent links.

Oh gosh Maria, I sure hope you Bro is okay... I hope they catch it in time. Yes like the others are say losing the jaw bone, teeth, part of his tongue, part of your face and all it's not a good thing to go through as I know my family friend's nephew who was a heavy smoker died from the samething at age 21 last year. Yes it's possible if cancer or smokers runs in the family or it just one in a million he got it as his dad and grandfather are heavy smokers. Well the baseball player probably would have it worst if he didn't have the money....

May god be with you and family Maria, please take one day at a time to treasure your good memories with your love ones... hang in there.. I would just enjoy the times not think about the oral cancer when having get togethers like our last... have fun while it lasts is a great memory!!! not be sad..

You all are in my prayers and thoughts.

Yes, I am still very sad. I don't know how he would feel about losin' jaws/teeth if his diagnosis is very serious such as stage 3. I am hopin' that he will make it through. He didn't exactly say where the cancer is located. He just said " oral cancer " in his mail when he sent it to MySpace. Will find out more when he keeps me post.

Thanks for the link. I appreciate it.

Yeah, cancer runs in my mother's family side. I am glad I don't smoke anymore. I quit it in 2004. I will fly over if, my brother is hospitalized for surgery. I truly hate to see this to happen. I love my brother to death. We had good times together when we were kids. I taught him fingerspellin', raced him to the shore in swimmin', and many things. He even taught me how to ride on bicycle without holdin' on holders. Of course, I fell and he laughed at me. That was one of my best memories of him ! Yeah, I know not to be sad - but, I had only one brother. I have plenty of sisters. Without my brother, nothin' will be the same. Thanks for your concerns and I appreciate it. I will try my best to think positive.

I am so sorry about your family's friend's nephew.

There is always hope, Maria. Let's jsut pray that it has been caught early. Treatment for oral cancer follow the same protocol as treatment for other cancers. Surgery to remove the tumors, chemotherapy, radiation.

Maria, I am very sorry about your brother. I hope that he would be survice.
