Ivy Leaguer plagued by stalker may drop out over school

A 20-year-old Dartmouth student says she may have to give up her Ivy League dream and drop out of school because the prestigious college won't allow her to carry a gun -- to protect herself against a predator.

Taylor Woolrich, a junior, says Dartmouth administrators told her they won’t let her carry a gun on campus, even though she lives in fear of a man who has been stalking her since she was a high school student in San Diego.

she should go to Harvard instead since the property is completely gated

Would you want to be in a gated community if Matajan had a way in? Just suppose you are a hot liberal ivy league chick ...

Think about it ..

you do realize that Harvard has had dozens of celebrities like Natalie Portman? and you do realize that there are security guards stationed at each gate, checking each person's ID? and plus - many facilities/buildings require access card to get in.

so I'm not quite sure how would Matajan get in

it's not quite the same as Gally. Harvard's actually much more secured than Gally by thousand miles. Why? well... Harvard is a home to celebrities, rich people, high-profile people, important people, etc. and their mommies and daddies pay lot of money for it. Security and privacy are of utmost importances there. Think about it....

Again .. we are talking about Matajan ... :giggle:

If there is a crack in the gate, he will find it

nope! I couldn't even get in just to look around.

She should take the school up on its word. Anytime she goes from point A to point B, she should ask for a police escort. If the school is going to make it illegal for her to have any means of self protection, then they need to step up and provide her with personal protection.

What if the stalker is a fellow student? Then he would have campus access.

She should look into getting a taser and/or pepper spray if she's not allowed to carry a gun. Or if he's a big, scary dude, one of these:

Some places ban or restrict those, too.

A letter she wrote to Dartmouth:

Dear Dartmouth, I am one of your students, I am being stalked, please let me carry a gun to protect myself | Fox News

If schools and society can’t guarantee my safety and the safety of victims like me, it’s time we have the chance to defend ourselves so we can stop living in fear.

Should myself and other female victims just have to put up with this? The answer, hopefully, is “no.” Women must be able to defend themselves. The most effective way of doing this is by using a gun. When police arrive to enforce a restraining order, it is usually too late.
