Is Alldeaf lagging again???? I was hmm slow lagging again ?

ummm..Lagging means slow, delayed and not quick. I had that problem earlier today, must be network fart.

what does lagging mean? :dunno:
you know "jetlag" ?

From Jargon File (4.3.1, 29 Jun 2001):

lag n. [MUD, IRC; very common] When used without qualification this is
synomous with netlag. Curiously, people will often complain "I'm
really lagged" when in fact it is their server or network connection
that is lagging.

-----------------

From The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (27 SEP 03):

lag

see netlag

From Jargon File (4.3.1, 29 Jun 2001):

netlag n. [IRC, MUD] A condition that occurs when the delays in the
IRC network or on a MUD become severe enough that servers briefly
lose and then reestablish contact, causing messages to be delivered in
bursts, often with delays of up to a minute. (Note that this term has
nothing to do with mainstream "jet lag", a condition which hackers tend
not to be much bothered by.) Often shortened to just `lag'.

-----------------

From The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (27 SEP 03):

netlag

<networking> A condition that occurs when the delays in the
IRC network, a MUD connection, a telnet connection, or
any other networked interactive system, become severe enough
that servers briefly lose and then reestablish contact,
causing messages to be delivered in bursts, often with delays
of up to a minute. (Note that this term has nothing to do
with mainstream "jet lag").

so in other word
"bad network latency"
From WordNet (r) 2.0:

latency
n 1: (computer science) the time it takes for a specific block of
data on a data track to rotate around to the read/write
head [syn: rotational latency]
2: the time that elapses between a stimulus and the response to
it [syn: reaction time, response time, latent period]
3: the state of being not yet evident or active

but my suspicion is that it is experiencing high server load which the load time is extremely large forcing the cpu of the server to process at max speed running low on memory.
another is that the mysql may be experiencing high overhead load.

so Alex may need to optimize the load and tweak since not all servers are the same.

Nah, more like one of Nutty's nuts jamming the server, nuts from his 2004-05 pre-hibernation season of collecting!

Unfortunately, yes. I have this website that seems to be popular in other countries, particularly China, and the site uses up a lot of server resources. This usually happens around midnight and after (EST).

I'm thinking of selling this site and get rid of it before it starts bringing down my server frequently. :Ohno:

Sorry for the inconvenience.
