Introducing Myself

I am a hearing person just stopping by to introduce myself! I've been reading on the forums for a few hours and have learned so much about Deaf culture. I'm not an ASL student, or studying to be an interpreter or anything like that, just someone who has had an interest in sign language for many years. I'm a paraprofessional for the deaf/HOH children at school, and love it! You won't be getting any surveys or long lists of questions from me, so no worries on that part:)

I had an ASL class 10 years ago, but we use signed English where I work, so that is what I am used to. We are getting a new student this year who only knows ASL, so I need to work on those skills! I would also like to get involved in the deaf community, so I really need to learn ASL and also work on my receptive skills.
 
in time you will acquire ASL like any language...
signed english is nasty stuff. phew..

hopefully the ASL signer whose coming will help you pick up the language..
good that your going to learn it...
